Jennie’s eyes filled with disgust when she heard Kim Seon-ho’s words. How shameless of him to actually go back on his own word. Jennie refused to let Kim Seon-ho off the hook, so she said coldly,
“Is that so? But I took it seriously. Mr. Kim Seon-ho. I’m not your daughter. I’m only here to see my mom.”
Kim Seon-ho was furious when he heard this. Although he really wanted to sever ties with Jennie, he couldn’t yet because he would not give up any opportunity to get close to a big shot like Lisa. He looked at Jennie and said angrily,
“Jennie, how can you do this? No matter what, I’m still your dad. You unfilial daughter. I should have strangled you to death when you were born.”
Lisa frowned when he heard Kim Seon-ho’s words. This old man actually dared to talk about his girl like that. He was simply courting death. He looked coldly at Kim Seon-ho and scolded,
“Shut up. How dare you talk about my wife like that?”
Kim Seon-ho immediately shut his mouth. He couldn’t afford to offend a big shot like Lisa or his life would be miserable. He might not even be able to beg for food. Jennie wasn’t worth it.
When Jennie saw Kim Seon-ho’s terrified look, she suddenly had an idea on how to save her mom. She looked at Lisa with a gentle smile and said coquettishly,
“Hubby, can I take my mom home to live with us?”
When Lisa saw Jennie’s pleading look and how she called him “hubby” so intimately, the iceberg in his heart instantly melted. He would have given Jennie the moon if she had asked for it then. He looked at Jennie with a complicated expression, his body warm from excitement.
When Kim Seon-ho heard Jennie’s words, he panicked. If Jennie took her mom away, then Kim Seon-ho would really lose all control over Jennie. If this crazy woman recovered, she might come back for revenge. So, he said quickly,
“No, Jennie. You mom is still mentally unwell. She will bring you trouble if you take her home with you.”
Kim Seon-ho’s words brought Lisa back to his senses. Lisa slowly calmed his excitement and looked at Jennie’s pleading expression. He said expressionlessly to Kim Seon-ho,
“Shut up. Madam has the final say in everything now.”
Jennie’s worry eased when she heard this. She would be at wit’s end if Lisa did not agree. She looked gratefully at Lisa with a smile and said sweetly,
“Hubby, you’re so kind. Thank you.”
A hint of smile appeared on Lisa’s usually cold face when he saw how happy Jennie was. Then, the smile disappeared as he used his hand to tap Jennie’s forehead and said playfully,
“If you really want to thank me, don’t just talk. Show me through your actions.”
Jennie was still on cloud nine and didn’t understand what Lisa meant at all. But when she thought back to how quickly Lisa had agreed to her request, she should repay him and tell everyone that Lisa was not a devil. He was instead a good person. She replied immediately,
“No problem. As long as I can fulfill your request, it won’t be a problem.”
When Lisa heard this, there was a hint of a smile in his eyes. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly as he looked at Jennie. This girl agreed so readily. When the time came, she had better not go back on her word. So, he said calmly,
“Then, we are agreed. We can’t go back on our word.”
Jennie nodded vigorously. Why would she go back on her word? He had already helped her save her mom, so what else would she not agree to? Moreover, whatever his requests were, as long as she could do it, she would do it.
Kim Seon-ho was really angry when he saw this and wanted to lash out. Did they think he was dead? Taking his wife away without even asking his permission? But, fearful of Lisa’s power, he suppressed his anger and said solemnly,
“Boss Manoban, my wife can’t go home with you. She’s still in treatment. If you take her away like this, it will affect her ongoing treatment!”
Jennie looked coldly at Kim Seon-ho. This old man actually wanted to imprison her mom and said such hypocritical things. It was really disgusting, Jennie replied coldly,
“You don’t need to worry. Just mind your own business. My husband will find the best doctor for my mom, the kind that you won’t be able to find.”
