Joker needed an heir fast, which meant that Harley got knocked up the moment she joined him.
Being the Joker's daughter wasn't easy. Ace was infused with Joker venom since birth, mentally and physically tortured, her mouth was cut to form a permanent smile, and almost died whenever Joker used her as leverage.
After one of the many encounters with Joker, Batman and Robin found her within an inch of death in the middle of an abandoned warehouse. Her permanent smile was dripping with fresh blood, as well as several open wounds on her body.
"Batman, we can't leave her. We should at least take her to a-"
"No."
But he still took her.
Hell, he adopted, changed her name and gave her a new identity... a new life.
Maeve will forever be grateful of her new life, but deep down she knows she'll never fully be Batman's daughter and protégé.
