The year is 1972 currently July - Derek (21) and the reader (21) have been friends since school. Y/N attended college and got her degree in English. Alan (24). She had just recently graduated and was working as an editor for the local papers. Living in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Life was interesting for Y/N since she had just moved into a brand-new apartment. For the first time, she was on her living for herself rather than for her parents. Everything new is scary but for her, this was her adventure. At this point, she had known the boys in Derek's group for a long time.

Y/N's POV

I was on my way to Derek's house he told me he would be home around this time. We were going to be hanging out and maybe watching some TV. We liked to do things like this since we both were busy with our lives.

I arrived at the house and knocked on the door. I didn't pay any mind to the cars in the driveway.

"Hey," Alan said as he opened the door.

"Oh hey Alan. Is Derek home?" I asked.

"No, he is not but he should be home soon. He went down to the store to pick up a couple of things," Alan said.

"Alright, sounds good," I said.

I walked inside and Alan shut the door behind me.

"What are ya'll gonna do when he gets here?" Alan asked.

"I don't know to be honest maybe watch some tv or something," I said.

"Always fun. Well if you wanna look over what could be on here's the tv guide," Alan said.

"Oh, okay thanks," I said.

I sat down on the couch and Alan sat next to me.

"I have no idea what is even on you know that," Alan said.

"I feel like me neither," I said.

We flipped through the shows that was on.

"I don't recognize some of these programs but they could be interesting to check out," Alan said.

"Yeah," I said.

Alan turned on the tv and flipped through a few of the channels.

"What about this one? Do you think you guys would watch this?" Alan asked.

"I mean it looks good to check out," I said.

"What time is it anyways?" Alan asked.

"I think it is like 1," I said.

"I would have thought for sure by now Derek would be home," Alan said as he looked at the door.

I looked at the door as well.

We both looked at each other.

"I have no clue," I said with a slight smile.

Alan shook his head and we both looked back at the tv.

What is going on in your little mind. I thought to myself.

"Are you thirsty or anything?" he asked.
