*Jack's POV*
I look at the clock, 11:30. I haven't seen Natalie at her desk all morning. I look around the entire floor. Her car is in the parking lot, her coat is on the hook. I walk over to McTavish's desk. He's watching some security footage.
"McTavish, have you seen Natalie at all today?" He looks up from his computer and looks at me.
"No sir, I thought she was out sick." I look over at Landry's desk and he's sitting still, sunglasses covering his face. "He's asleep, isn't he." I ask.
"It looks that way, sir."
I look at her desk and see the note I'd left last night. If she saw the post it note, maybe she's in a copy room. I looked in the copy room again, Saul's office, she wasn't there. I could go down to the file room. I hadn't been there yet, it was described as a 'creepy labyrinth' by Mariana.
I take the elevator and walk down the hallway, there's barely any light except for the natural light coming through the windows and a yellow strip of wall sconces around the baseboards. Wall to wall, there are files everywhere. This place looks like it hasn't been organized in at least 10 years. I see the small glow of a lamp coming from the end of the hall. There are some tables and chairs, and on the other side of the room there's a couch. Natalie's laying on the couch, asleep. Her headphones are on and there's music coming out the ends, as I approach I can hear her whimpering.
"No, no," she cries out. I reach down and gently touch her shoulder, her eyes shoot open and she sits up, sending more pieces of paper to the floor.
"It's okay, it's just me," I say.
"Don't touch," she mumbles, looking around, wiping her eyes. "Sorry."
I help pick up the papers, "It's alright, um, did something happen at your house last night? Landry was caught sleeping too," I ask.
Natalie slides the headphones to her neck, "No, nothing, I don't really want to talk about it." She puts a few things in the box beside her, "Um, I have 619 left to finish, I can stay through lunch to finish."
"Natalie, it's 11:45." I say.
"Oh, um, I can grab you what you need and then I'll come back and finish." Her phone rings and she fumbles for it. "Hello? Alex?" Her voice is frantic, whatever he says on the other line, her shoulders relax and she sighs, "Okay, I'm headed over there now."
"I promise I'll grab whatever you need, but I have something I need to do. Text me your lunch order."
"Seriously?" I say. Natalie winces, and pulls her keys out of her sweater.
"Sorry," she starts to jog down the hallway.
"Anything I can do?" I ask.
"I'm okay," she smiles and disappears into the elevator hallway, leaving me along the files. I look everything over and they're impeccable, she's even made a few notes.
*Desmond's POV*
Everything hurts.
I hazily remember telling Clemons at the bar I would declare my love to Natalie. I remember ordering an Uber and it didn't arrive. So I walked, it didn't seem so far away at the time, until I got lost walking down one of the streets, and I was trying to find the map on my phone. When I fell in the snow I felt so warm. But then I remember feeling cold.
Idiot move.
I remember hearing a scream, frantic cries. Natalie. I remember sipping something warm, but I could barely think.
