I actually manage to wake up on time, and get ready at home. I pick up more files and greet Officer Burke with a homemade scone and he thanks me as he takes a bite, giving a thumbs up as a few crumbs fall against his shirt. When I get to the office, there are more flowers on my desk.

I read the note and it says, 'because I was thinking of you' with a heart beside Desmond's name. Beside the bouquet was a small box, and inside it-an array of sour candy.

I sit at my desk, and call Newton Fire Department.

"Newton Fire Department, how may I direct your call?"

"Hi, I'm calling for Lt. Raleigh, is he in?"

I hear a little sound of hesitation, "No, I'm afraid he's on a call. Who may I say is calling?"

"Um, actually, can you tell me if the new Captain has been introduced yet?" I ask.

"Captain Clark is currently unavailable. Is this an important manner?" They ask.

I sigh, noting the sound of annoyance of the attendants voice, "No, thank you."

I make my goodbyes and hang up.

Clark? I've never even heard of him. So he couldn't be from any of the local departments, where'd they bring this guy in from?

I go into the kitchen and make a batch of coffee, and I go to give one to Bohannon when I see his blinds are drawn. go to the door but I hear conversation.

"I won't run my operation this way!" Jack slams something and a little bit of coffee spills on my hand. "I told you, I don't like it, and you're acting like a child."

"She's new, once she gets her bearings, I'll give her something worthwhile."

"Do you talk to all of your assistants the way you've spoken to Natalie?" Oh shit they're talking about me.

"I won't tolerate you speaking to ANYONE like that, respect is a cornerstone of how I run things."

"Grace doesn't seem to mind."

"Grace is fifty and doesn't need this job, she lives off her husband's retirement fund. I read they just took a trip to Boca Raton."

"I'll figure something out."

"No, you won't. I'll take Miss Ripley, you keep Grace and Jocelyn. Natalie has good rapport with the community, some good you've done with that."

"You'll learn why-" I knock on the door and push my way in.

"Miss Ripley." Jack stops in his tracks and I walk quickly with the coffee, "Here's the coffee you asked for, sir." I say.

"I asked for this twenty minutes ago," Bohannon grumbles, and before I can say anything Jack thwacks him upside the head with a manila folder. "What I mean, is, thank you."

"Anything else I can get you, sir? Any of those desserts Grace brings in?" I ask.

"I can get that for myself." Bohannon says.

"But the other day-"

"I said I can get it." He snaps. Bohannon straightens, "Actually, Miss Koughlin-"

"Ripley," Jack interrupts.

I see Bohannon roll his eyes, "Miss Ripley," he sighs, "Your assistance is better used by Special Agent Medeira, if that's alright with you. I haven't given you many tasks and he thought your abilities would be better utilized working on pertinent projects."

I look up at Jack, "Is this true?"

Jack clears his throat, "Yes, I actually have a list of things I need. Mariana is capable, but she's running errands for other agents and I thought you'd be more suited to these."
