SOTD:'Hitchhiking' by Zane Carney

*a few months later*

"It's fine..." Logan leaned down, running his fingers down the outside of my neck, at the same time his lips softly ghosted over mine "Logan... you're going to be late..."

"Worth it." He smirked as he rested his forehead against mine, our breath mingling in the closeness.

I had scheduled time at the studio, to work on my first EP, but Logan was going to the next town over to meet with a promoter for the band's next set of shows.

He'd apologized, over and over, and even offered to reschedule... and even though I wanted him to play some of the backing audio...

"I promise, I'll be here next time. I love you." Another kiss, this time, lasting a little longer.

My hands wrapped around his back, holding him against me, until finally pulling away. I waited until his car was no longer visible on the road to pick up my guitar case off the sidewalk, and I walked inside the same studio that I'd met Alberto at.

"Natalie!!!" I couldn't help the grin that spread across my face as he yelled from the hallway, and I walked towards his voice, my shoulders slumping a little when I realized I'd have to do the session completely alone "Hey, where's Logan?"

"He's busy..." I trailed off, carefully placing my guitar case against the wall before wrapping my arms around Alberto in a tight hug "I was fine with it until I walked in... you don't happen to know anyone that can play a little bass guitar for me... and maybe some backing vocals..."

"I could... throw out a signal on Facebook?" He scratched at his beard, reaching into his back pocket for his phone and turning away from you as he quickly typed "There's bound to be at least one person in town that can come and play a few notes? Unless you want me to..."

"We both know you can't sing... or play." You smirked as you shrugged your jacket off your shoulders, tossing it against the wall next to your guitar "If no one shows up in an hour I'll just solo it."

"You sure you're alright with me and Alex? I know it all happened so fast... you were still in the hospital and..." He swiveled around in his chair, fiddling with a few switches, scratching at his beard "I'd just hate if you were uncomfortable with our situation you know?"

"This is the happiest I've ever seen my brother, so yeah, I'm sure I'm fine with it AB. Stop second guessing how amazing you two are for each other yeah?" I stood up, walking over towards my guitar case, realizing my hour was up and I was going to have to do the session completely alone, but a light tap on the door to the studio snapped me out of wherever it was my mind had gone.

"Hey... am I too late?" He was out of breath, his long dark bangs plastered to his forehead from what looked like a torrential downpour of rain "Saw the thing on Facebook and..."

"Natalie..." I held my hand out, and he wiped his palm on the seat of his pants before accepting "You're not late. Do I... know you from somewhere?" He shook his head, my eyes locking with his for a brief moment before he looked away. It was almost like he was scared to make eye contact with me, but I'd still managed to notice that he was wearing dark eyeliner.

"I don't think so... unless you've been to Cali. I've lived there since I was 5." He muttered a thank you under his breath when Alberto tossed him a towel to dry off with, and I couldn't stop myself from taking the chance to study him, to try and figure out why my mind was telling me I knew this mystery man "I'm Damien, by the way." He smiled as I nodded, reaching towards his guitar case and popping it open to reveal a bright blue instrument with matte black accents on the body "It's not a bass..."

"It's fine... I have a sneaking suspicion that you're going to be great." Damien let out a quiet laugh at your words, and you smiled as he followed you into the tight space of the recording booth.
