*Desmond's POV*

Another day of cold weather, frozen pipes, the road were clear, but there was the occasional black ice sighting. Cars in ditches, frostbite, and at worst, finding deceased citizens.

I started getting dressed and mumbled a hello to Hux, we were on the aid car together today.

I took a look over at Lt. Gideon and noticed the dark circles under his eyes and his especially short and curt attitude.

"Dude, who died?" A snicker escaped my mouth before I could stop myself, and I finished pulling the under armor over my head. He turned to me and his arm swung and punched me, right in the face. Pain burned to my cheek and I held up my hand to check for blood. "What the fuck?" I yelled, pushing him off me.

Gideon snapped, "You wanna go?" He pushed me further away from him and my back slammed into a locker.

Babs hated when I got into street fights, a kid in New York getting into trouble wasn't anything new. She hated it even moreso because of how my dad died, and I had to admit. I was a lover, not a fighter. But getting into a fight at the firehouse, I could lose my job.

I pushed him away again as he approached me and he came after me with a vengeance. His fist connected with my face again, this shit fucking burned.

Damn he was fast.

Crew began to circle around us, Hux yelling, "Don't, come on guys, don't fight, he-" Gideon smacked him in the face and sent Hux barreling into Tank. I grabbed Gideon and we grappled, and he got a couple shots to my ribs.

What the fuck was this guy's problem?

I got on my feet again and went low into a tackle, busting at him against a wall. He raised his fist to me again, and I heard Ripley yelling, "What the FUCK do you think you're doing? Clean this shit up. Gideon, Raleigh, to my office, NOW!" Ripley's calm demeanor scared me sometimes, and when he yelled, I knew this was the end of it.

Ripley dealt with us separately, Gideon giving me the stink eye when he walked out of the office. We were both sent home, and I felt like shit. Cap expressed he was already tired from being up all night with a friend, and then told me about what happened to Gideon's friend.

"Wait sir, I don't understand."

"Logan Grey, one of Gideon's friends, Natalie's too, was fatally wounded in a car accident on New Years."

"I talked to him just before he left." I said.

"I believe they were close." Cap said.

I nodded, "They were pretty serious about each other at some point, but I thought they got back together when Natalie and I... I didn't know he died. Oh, God, I said some really horrible things. I was jealous," I pulled on the back of my hair, "Shit. We broke up on New Years Eve, and I ended it through phone call. I'm a fucking asshole."

Captain Ripley seemed empathetic, "I'm sure if you talk things out with her, she will be forthcoming. You owe her an apology, Desmond."

I nodded, "I know. But she doesn't forgive easy, much less trust."

Part of him flinched and it was unsaid, but he knew this just as well as I did.

I waited for him to say something else, but he just raised an eyebrow. "Well, Raleigh, if there's nothing else I have a firehouse to run. You know what to do about your face, and... about everything else too."

He stood up and opened the door, gesturing to me that it was time for me to go.

"Yes sir."
