*Natalie's POV*

I shuffled out of bed, still fuzzy from the sleep medication Micah had given me.

"Darling, I've got to go, there's a meeting and then I'm covering for Garrett tonight, so I won't be home until quite a bit later." Aeron kissed my forehead, handing me a cup of coffee "Here, drink this, your favorite, per Damien's standards." Coffee, I sighed in relief, taking a whiff of the special roast he ordered.

"What time is it?" I asked, taking a small, searing sip.

"It's about ten o'clock," He sighed, then sat on the bed, "Logan called for you. He wanted to know how you were doing."

I groaned, grimacing at the thought of the fight we'd had last night. I didn't even know what to say to him. "What'd you say?"

"I said that you were doing alright for now, he also said that he arranged a meeting with Detective Bohannon for 2:00 pm, he sent you a text with the details."

I checked my phone, seeing the text from Logan and some gps coordinates from google maps. "Great."

"I'm headed out, Alex made you breakfast." He kissed me, a light hmm escaping his lips as he pulled away, and then walked down the steps and out the door. I sniffed the air, I knew what he'd made. Rarely ever did Alex make cinnamon rolls, but when he did they were delicious.

I shuffled into my robe and slippers and walked down the steps. The sunlight flashed hard against my eyes but I made my way onto the kitchen table seating. I pulled a roll from the glass case he put them in, taking a little bit, piece by piece.

Damien's voice was gruff, "Morning."

"Hey, you're in your pajamas, did you have a sleepover?" I was confused, taking a sip of my coffee.

"So, long story short, I broke it off with Kellan."

"WHAT?!" Damien cringed at my booming voice, "What the fuck happened?"

"A little louder please, the whole neighborhood couldn't hear you, Jesus." He shook his head and poured a cup of coffee, taking a sip, "So, you know how you and Logan argued last night?"

I flinched, the fight. "Everyone knows about it?"

"It's us, Natalie, of course we know about it. Anyway, so after he kicked you guys out, he went to his room. Honestly, Natalie, I don't even know how all of this happened. Ever since... the shooting," his voice was more of whisper now, "He's just been so moody, and it's like he doesn't care about anything anymore. He doesn't even..." Damien's eyes welled, "he doesn't even touch me, and I..." He sobbed, "I just couldn't take it anymore. I thought I could, I was going to propose, but then it all happened so fast."

I placed my hand on his, gripping tightly. He wiped his eyes with the back of his other sleeve, running his hand through his hair. "I can't, Natalie, I can't be with someone who can't give a relationship their all, it's all or nothing. In this case... I chose nothing."

"Is there anyway he could get you back?" I asked.

Damien scoffed, "It would take a hell of a lot of convincing, and he doesn't seem in the mindset to change anytime soon. I mean, don't get me wrong. I love him, so much, I mean, I think he sees that. I just, I want someone to love me like..." his words drifted.

"Like what?" I locked eyes with him, "Tell me Damien."

"I can't say." He looked away, loosening his grip on my hand. "I'll figure things out, it's not the first time this has happened, you know. I had a boyfriend, maybe a year before I came here. It was a great relationship, until he started treating me like I was some kind of doormat, and it took a while but I got out of there as fast as I could. I promised myself I would never stoop that low again."
