Summary → Peter wakes up extra early so him and little Ben can make you breakfast.

Peter made sure he woke up extra early today. For the last few years you'd managed to surprise him on valentine's before he woke up, but this year he was determined to be the one doing the surprising.

He climbed out of bed quietly, using his enhanced hearing to make sure your heart was still beating calmly, to make sure you were definitely still sleeping.

When he was positive you were, he creeped out of your shared bedroom and down the hall, passing your son's bedroom on the way. He heard a quiet call for him, peeking his head in to see the boy rubbing his tired eyes.

"Hey bud, you're up early. Do you want to help me make mommy a special breakfast?"

The boy yawned, mumbling a quiet yes as he pushed himself out of his bed.

"Up, daddy!" Ben whined, making grabby hands at Peter. The man sighed, scooping the five year old up into his arms and holding him on his hip.

He carried him into the kitchen, setting the boy on the counter with a kiss to his head. Peter grabbed the ingredients he needed to make you breakfast and got started while making conversation with Ben.

The two talked about anything and everything that popped into the five year old's mind, Peter often over exaggerating his reactions, but it warmed his heart nonetheless.

Ben happily kicked his legs while he watched his dad cook. Granted Peter wasn't the best cook in the world, but he knew how to make pancakes and he knew how to get fruit out of the fridge and cut them.

"You ready to go take this to mommy?" He asked, helping the boy down onto his feet. Ben nodded his head, taking great pride in being asked to carry your orange juice.

Peter laughed, taking the tray of food and trailing behind the boy on his way back to your shared room.

You were already awake when Peter came back. You'd planned on surprising him, but upon waking up you noticed he wasn't by your side and you knew you'd lost the 'race.'

"Happy valentines day, babe." You grinned, letting your husband kiss your lips over and over. You heard a huff from your little boy, pulling back to look at him sitting on your bed with his arms crossed sassily.

"What's wrong, mister?" Ben crawled closer to you, cuddling into your side and subtly, but not so subtly, looking down at your tray of food. You giggled, seeing Peter roll his eyes out of the corner of your eye.

"Do you want some?" You asked, laughing when he rapidly nodded his head. You handed him a few strawberries, letting him happily munch on those while you made conversation with your husband.

"So, you finally beat me, huh?" He grinned, nodding his head proudly.

"Don't worry, I'll get you again next year."
