The anxiety around something happening to Taylor was increasing to the point of you wanting to do sleepovers every single night. Taylor didn't mind; she loved cuddling you. You had always been very strict about your stuff: wanting to keep your things organized, trying to do your homework without any help, obsessive about things you found interesting; but this was different.
Now you were trying to stay up at night past your bedtime to check stay with Taylor, even she promised that she was going to go to your bed or hers (if you were sleeping there) when she went to sleep.
- "Lizzie, is time to sleep, go and brush your teeth and get ready for bed" your mom said at 9:30pm.
- "But I'm not tired. Can't I stay for a little longer with you? We were enjoying the movie together" you argued.
- "We were but I promise we won't watch anymore without you, go and get ready for bed" your mom insisted.
You went upstairs, grabbed your pajamas, your toothbrush and toothpaste, then quickly came back to the tv room where you were watching the movie.
- "I'll get ready in this bathroom" you said "that way we can watch a bit more of the movie"
Your mom rolled her eyes and played the movie again while you got ready for bed and watched the movie from the bathroom, although what you really wanted was to be close to Taylor. When you were done you managed to stay for some additional minutes until your mom realized you were finished.
- "Lizzie, stop delaying, go to bed. I'll be up in some minutes, okay?" Andrea said.
You nodded defeated and kissed Taylor good night: - "Are you coming soon?"
- "Yes baby, I'll be up soon, but go ahead and sleep, I promise I'll go later" Taylor answered.
You went upstairs and got under the covers, but you were hoping for Taylor to come to bed soon. The anxiety was increasing and although you didn't know it was anxiety, just a pressure on your chest, you were getting very worried. 5 minutes later your mom showed up. She sat beside you and placed a warm hand on your shoulder.
- "Lizzie, darling, has something happened? Are you scared of sleeping alone? You can sleep with me tonight but you need to be honest so I can help you" your mom said.
You shook your head, it wasn't about sleeping with someone, it was about sleeping with Taylor.
- "Are you having nightmares?" Your mom insisted.
You shook your head again.
- "Then what is it? You've never had trouble sleeping before and now you don't want to do it..."
You didn't want to tell your mom about it, so you just shrugged.
Andrea realized she wasn't getting any information out and you yawned, evidently tired. - "Okay, but if you need me, I'm literally down the hall. Okay?"
She kissed you goodnight and left. You forced your eyes to stay open, you needed to stay awake for when Taylor came, but you couldn't help it and ended up falling asleep. A couple of hours later Taylor joined you and hugged you tightly, you woke up and smiled when you saw she was there with you.
- "I love you" you whispered, and she kissed your head softly.
- "I love you too" She replied, and you grabbed her hand to make sure she was with you. At 6am she woke up to go to the bathroom and you felt how she detangled your fingers, you immediately woke up: - "WHAT'S GOING ON?"
- "Woah! Nothing, just going to the bathroom, sorry about waking you up" Taylor said.
Your breathing was rapid. - "Okay. I'll wait for you here" you replied. Taylor thought you were just panicky because of getting woken up, but the entire 5 minutes she was in the bathroom you tried but couldn't even out your breathing. When she came back to bed she could feel your shaky body.
