One Wednesday, you had just arrived from theater after school, your mom picked you up and you had afternoon snack with her on the way home—as you usually did on Wednesdays. Blake had been over for lunch and after eating, they were in the living room talking with Taylor about the dinner they were having later on the week for a friend's they had in common birthday. You heard them talking:
- "Both of us are going, so I asked my mom if she was free to watch the kids, but she's actually busy. Ryan's mom is on a Nordic and Scandinavian cruise. I guess we're calling the nanny, although James has been complaining about her, she says she's mean to her, but I think it's just her not wanting to be nanny-ed" Blake said shrugging.
You were on your phone, apparently not paying attention to their conversation, but you immediately turned to them: - "I can watch them!"
Blake and Taylor laughed lightly realizing that you were listening to them. - "That's so nice of you sweetie, but Betty has been very difficult these past days, I don't want to put that on you" your sister's friend said.
- "Pleaseeeee? I'm better, I will take great care of them. Promise"
- "Oh sweetie, it's not because I don't trust you. I think that Ryan already contacted the nanny, he said this morning he was doing that today. But you know what? I'll call him and ask him, if he already spoke with the nanny, you can still come and watch them for the night. The nanny can help you to put them to bed and Tay can pick you up when we finish our dinner. Deal?"
You started jumping up and down super excited. - "Yayyyy! I love them, we'll have fun"
You then disappeared climbing up the stairs. Taylor turned to Blake once they were sure that you were not listening since you were showering;
- "I know you too well... did Ryan really called the nanny?" Taylor smirked.
Blake held her hands defensively: - "He said he would! I trust Lizzie and she loves the kids, I know she wouldn't hurt them, and they will have a great time. I just don't want to add any extra stress to her, she seems like she's doing fine, and I don't want her feeling like she failed because Betty has been impossible lately"
Taylor laughed lightly - "I totally understand. She's been doing fine—I'm sure that some things are still a challenge but she's better and sticking to recovery. She really loves the kids"
- "I know. She's been working hard. Would you pick her up after the dinner?" Blake asked.
- "Yeah, totally, is a Friday, so no school on Saturday" Taylor said and agreed.
The rest of the week went well and on Friday Taylor and you arrived at Blake's at 5pm and they were preparing to leave at 6pm. Taylor offered to drive both Blake and Ryan so they could drink if they wanted to, and they happily agreed.
You were playing with some building blocks with the kids in the living room and the adults were about to leave. Taylor got your attention tapping gently on your shoulder:
- "Okay baby, I'm not drinking any alcohol, I'll be back probably at midnight to pick you up. If you're tired, Blake said you could sleep in the guest's room after the kids are put to sleep. Remember what mom said-
- "Yes Tay, I will send you a picture of my dinner. I promise. I'll send it to both of you. We'll be fine" you interrupted putting her mind to ease, she had been repeating over and over that you needed to send a pic.
Taylor nodded and then Blake spoke: - "Thank you for doing this. The nanny is here, so you don't have to worry about putting them to bed. James goes to bed at 9:30, Inez at 9 and Betty at 8:30 max. Dinner is at 7:30pm. Have fun and thank you again"
