Martyn won.

He won Limited Life, he was now a winner.

Yet, being a winner came with consequences, which included torture.

And torture is what you could describe his current situation at the moment.

Martyn was on his knees, coughing up blood. A sword had just been plunged into his back and ripped out, by someone right behind him.

A Watcher.

Martyn was in so much pain. Everything hurt. He couldn't move.

The Watcher was torturing him because he was a winner, why can't his time run out already?

"Please- Please sto-" Martyn tried to wheeze out, but the Watcher had other plans.

Harshly rolling Martyn over, the Watcher raised his sword.

Martyn tried to block it, but he was too slow and weak, and the Watcher was too fast.

The Watcher plunged the sword down yet again, right underneath Martyn's heart.

Martyn screamed out in pain, before quickly starting to cough up blood.

He wanted to die.

I mean, he was going to now, seeing that he had two massive stab wounds and he was coughing up blood.

Yet, behind all that relief that he was about to die, was worry.

Where would he go after death? Would the Watchers take him away again.

Martyn watched as the Watcher slowly disappeared, leaving him all alone, bleeding out.

As the Watcher disappeared, they said one last thing.

"This is for how to got him out of the games."

Martyn didn't even know who the 'him' person the Watcher was talking about was. Yet, he really didn't care.

Funny, he wasn't dead yet, and he was already lying down in a pool of his own blood.

Guess he just had lots of blood then.

As he rolled to his side, he still felt as if his entire body was on fire, and he closed his eyes, waiting for the coldness of death to take him.

"Martyn."

He opened his eyes again. Who said his name?

Martyn tried to think who the voice was, until it dawned on him.

It was Ren.

But how? Ren was not on Limited Life. Martyn had already gotten him out.

Wait.

Ren was the 'him' person the Watcher said about earlier.

Mustering up all his strength, Martyn uttered one, simple question.

"Ren?"

Silence, only for a few seconds, and then Ren responded.

"Martyn."

Ren's voice was whispery like a ghost, and the sound slowly faded away.

Martyn's vision was becoming white at the edges, and he knew his time was up.

As Martyn took his final breaths, he felt Ren hold his hand.

Was it really Ren? Martyn didn't care.

"I can still hear him."
