At some point, I had woven my whole being with him,
Every thread of me dyed in his colors.
Every part of me was tainted
By his likes and dislikes,
By the shadows of his preferences.
Every hobby, once mine,
Became a shared echo,
A remnant of us together.
I lost myself in loving him,
So deeply entwined
That when I looked in the mirror,
I saw only reflections of him—
Every glance a reminder
Of his presence,
His essence in me.
I made him my world,
And I was merely living in it.
But then you came along,
And with you came the light
Of a broader horizon.
You showed me what it's like
To see beyond the confines
Of a love that consumed me,
To discover the world outside
That shadow of his influence.
Now I stand on the edge of the world,
Seeing the colors I forgot were mine,
Embracing the vastness
I once never knew existed.
In loving you, I've found
The pieces of myself
That got lost in loving him.
