I didn't know it was love
When I was in the heart of it,
Lost in the warmth of your touch,
And the way we fit,
Not until you broke me open,
Scattered my heart in shards,
And I couldn't hate you for it.
You left to find your happiness,
And I wanted that more than anything—
Even if it meant without me.
Because true love isn't holding on
When you know it's not right,
It's letting go,
Even when it tears at the seams
Of everything we thought we knew.
You made the hard choice,
The one I couldn't—
Maybe I didn't even want to.
But I thank you.
Thank you for choosing the truth
When I was tangled in dreams,
For saving us both from drowning
In what we couldn't be.
Though the ending shattered me,
I will never forget the beginning,
The middle,
The way we once held hope
Between us like a fragile flame.
And even if I remember the pain,
The love will always make up for it.
