Intentional Love

I never had control over my heart,

I was made from love, and I have so much

It overflows, spilling from me like a river.

So if you're going to let me love you,

There are some things you need to know.

I may not love you perfectly—

Some days I will give you my all,

And some days, I might have nothing left to give.

But I will love you intentionally, with purpose,

Even if it drives you mad just being with me.

I will love you with all that I am, consistently.

There will be days when you might want to run away,

But I promise to give you a thousand reasons to stay.

I love deeply and fiercely, and I'm loyal to the core,

I will never be somebody that I am not.

I will remind you every day that I love you,

And I will always strive to make things right.

Can't you see? From my love, there is no place to hide.

I want to wrap you in a love that's raw and true,

A love that doesn't falter, even when the world does.

All I want is for you and me to intentionally be—

To choose each other every day, endlessly.
