It Wasn't Us

They write of hearts that found someone new,
Someone who gave what they could not give.
But I stand here, wondering,
How come you haven't found someone
Who could give you more than I ever did?

Maybe it's because I gave you everything.
Maybe it's because what we had wasn't lacking,
Just that our story was never meant to last forever—
Only written for a season, not for a lifetime.

And that makes me sad,
Not because I didn't love you right,
But because I know now—
It wasn't me.
It wasn't you.
It was simply that, in the end,
It wasn't us.

Sometimes, two hearts are full of love,
But love alone is not enough to hold them together.
Even when there's still something left,
Even when parting feels like losing a piece of yourself,
Some stories are meant to end.
Not out of lack, but out of life.
