As humans, we are fools
To believe that love is merely love.
To love someone is to accept a price--
A fee paid in pain and the ache of absence.
Every hello carries within it a goodbye,
Yet we dive headfirst into love,
Fully aware of the cost.
Every first kiss has a final moment,
Every embrace, an expiration date.
Yet, despite knowing the price,
We pay it willingly,
Over and over again.
It's what makes life's tapestry so rich.
We cannot know love without knowing sorrow,
Nor experience emotions without feeling their sting.
At the end of the day, no matter the cost,
Love--love is always worth it.
