I was never a beggar, but I begged for you,
For answers, for love, for all that's true.
I never chased anyone before,
But for you, I ran and begged for more.
If I were to stop, to let you go,
Would you stop running? I need to know.
Would you dare to look back, just to see
If I was still there, longing to be free?
Would you call my name and break the chain,
Or would my silence be replaced again?
Would my footsteps be filled by somebody new,
Or would you turn and run to me, too?
Would you list the reasons I shouldn't walk away,
Or let me go without a word to say?
I wonder, if I stopped chasing you now,
Would you still find a way back somehow?
