We look for soulmates in the wrong places,
Aching hearts searching for someone
To fill the void, to hold the broken pieces
Like they were always meant to.
We fall for faces and promises
That don't last,
Get heartbroken when they don't become
What we dreamed they'd be.
But I didn't heal alone.
When the nights felt heavy,
And I couldn't breathe through the weight
Of what was left behind,
It wasn't love that saved me—
It was friendship,
The kind that never walks away.
My best friend took me on more dates
Than any guy ever cared to.
Laughed with me over coffee,
Made me feel seen in the cracks
Of my own self-doubt.
Treated me like I was worthy,
Even when I didn't believe it.
She loved me more than any boy,
Held my heart with respect
And taught me that I deserved
Every bit of kindness I had forgotten
To give myself.
She made me feel like a princess
Without the need for crowns or castles,
Just the truth:
I deserve this, and nothing else.
So don't forget your friends,
The ones who stay when love leaves.
They are the soulmates who lift you up,
Who remind you of your worth
When the world and you, forget.
