As a lover girl, I once believed
I couldn't survive without you,
That life would be empty and still
After you left, breaking my world in two.
When you walked away, my world shattered,
And I tried to piece it back together again.
I tried to restore it to what it was before you,
But it was never quite the same.
I couldn't fit the pieces perfectly;
They wouldn't go back as they were before,
But maybe, just maybe, I rebuilt something new,
Something stronger than before.
I never had the strength to leave,
But I am thankful you chose to go.
I haven't fixed myself completely,
But I've learned to live without you,
And that's a strength I now know.
