You taught me to be selfish,
Not in a way that hurts or takes—
But in a way that loves myself first,
Before I carry someone else's ache.I've learned that if I'm not okay,
How can I help another be whole?
To be selfish enough to be happy,
So I can share that joy with a fuller soul. When you left, it was a selfish act,
But also one filled with love.
You showed me the strength in walking away,
In putting my needs above. So now, I'll continue being selfish—
Not because I choose to, but because I must.
When I meet the one who's meant for me,
I want to give without breaking trust.I'll leave space for myself this time,
A little room to breathe, to grow—
I'll be selfish so I can love deeply,
Without losing the part of me I've come to know.
