You let me go,
Not because we failed as a couple,
But because you knew I needed space
To grow,
To find myself outside of us.
It felt like quiet breaking,
An ache I couldn't name,
Like something precious slipping away
Before I was ready to lose it.
Your voice was gentle,
Telling me it was love,
That you were giving me the freedom
To become someone I hadn't yet met.
But all I felt was the weight of absence,
An emptiness where you once were.
You didn't leave out of anger—
You left so I could thrive without you.
I understand now,
The love that lingers in letting go,
How you stepped back
So I could move forward.
And though it hurts,
I know you did what I couldn't,
Loving me enough to leave,
So I could learn to stand
On my own.
