I gave you so much of me,
But you didn't know how to hold it.
I was a storm in your sky,
Wild and untamed,
And when the sunrise came,
If you had only stayed,
If you had truly seen me—
A light breaking through the dark—
You would have known
I could offer you what no one else could.
I have so much love to give,
Yet I keep giving it,
To those who can't truly receive it,
Can't hold it, can't feel it,
The way I do.
I place my heart on the line
For everyone but myself,
Constantly giving, always emptying.
I give and I give,
Not for the sake of receiving,
But to believe
That someday I'll finally know,
That I, too, deserve
The kind of love I pour out,
Into the world.
