I don't know how to love small,
It's not a language I speak,
You see, my heart, it overflows,
Giving all it can, and more.
To family, to friends, to you,
I am boundless in my care,
When my heart decides to love,
It does so without restraint.
You asked me to love you less,
To trim the edges of my affection,
And I stood, confused,
For how can I carve a piece of what is whole?
I cannot love in fragments,
Or offer only slivers of my soul,
I'd rather walk away,
Than be asked to shrink the love I hold.
