If you were to date me,
keep me close—not a threat,
but a love-infused demand,
a whisper wrapped in velvet,
because you and I know
we're better as one,
where the air between us
feels lighter, like autumn leaves
floating on a breeze. Our smiles, wider than the horizon,
stretch beyond the sunrise
when we meet each other's eyes.
Our laughs, sweeter than ripe fruit,
linger like honey on the tongue,
and even our silences, soft as whispers in the night,
wrap us in their warmth. If you asked what I bring,
I'd say I am the comfort
of a familiar blanket on a cold night,
the joy of a summer rain after a drought.
I bring you laughter,
the kind that shakes mountains,
and support like the roots of ancient trees
holding the earth in place. Most of all, I bring love,
the kind that fills every corner
of your soul, until not a shadow remains.
No tears of sorrow will stain your face,
only tears of joy,
like rivers bursting from a wellspring
too full to contain. If you were to date me,
I wouldn't ask for much—
just love, a little attention,
and in return, you'd have it back,
doubled,
without ever needing to ask.
