Out of 8.2 billion people,
You once loved me.
Think about that—
The sheer weight of it,
How amidst the billion of faces,
You found mine,
And chose me.
That's pretty damn special.
You crossed paths with so many others,
Saw eyes that weren't mine,
Heard voices that didn't call your name,
Yet you still stopped for me.
Out of everyone,
I was the one who caught your heart,
Even for a while.
It's like stars aligning,
A cosmic accident
That doesn't feel like an accident at all.
We were destined to meet
In a world so big it swallows cities whole,
And still, we found each other.
Even if we don't last forever,
It's beautiful to know
That in all the crowded streets,
In all the faces you passed,
You loved me,
And I loved you,
If only for a chapter
In this book of billions.
