It was real for me,
You were real for me.
For the first time in this lifetime ,
I felt truly loved.
Not that I haven't been loved before,
But you—you knew exactly how.
All those little things you did:
Holding the car door open,
Listening intently when I spoke,
And those damn eyes,
Looking into mine like a promise—
I could see myself with you forever,
If you just kept looking at me like that.
I don't know what it was for you,
But for me, it was as real as it gets.
What we had meant the world to me,
Maybe even more than it should have.
And I know it didn't last,
As long as I'd hoped,
But I was willing to be with you
Forever.
