A/N: I feel like this needs to be cleared up here so that the timeline makes sense (bcs this fic is designed to branch off of the main timeline, but also assumes the main timeline before it branched off happened over a more condensed period of time). Here, the USJ incident and summer camp kidnapping incident both happened before the start of the fic, but took place within the first 2-3 months of the school yr which would have been about September to November. The difference: during these attacks the league had not revealed themselves so openly as in cannon and while their existence and goals were relatively well known, their individual identities were not. This is why Midoriya seems to have an idea of who they are, he knows they're part of the league—the group that has attacked them on multiple occasions—but he tends to call shigaraki 'that man' instead of his name. Midoriya's initial kidnapping was on a Friday in mid-December, not quite halfway through the school year and about a month after they managed to get Bakugo back, at which point the league had been able to escape after severely injuring All-Might. Would not have needed to explain this if I had properly thought out my plot beforehand but this is the logic that's going on in my mind.
Have fun reading!Izuku POV
I was more than happy to return back quietly and carefully into Hitoshi's arms after drying off from my extended water break, and buried my face into the warmth of his chest. He stirred a little but didn't wake, and slid an arm over my shoulders to hold me close. I focused on him rather than the unexpected talk I had just minutes ago, refusing to let myself dwell on it for now, and found it easy to fall back asleep to his steady lullaby of a heartbeat.
When morning came and our alarm went off, Hitoshi shut it off with a groan like usual. When I only sleepily snuggled closer, I felt him take in a deep breath.
"Izuku?" His morning voice rumbled through me, especially soothing with my ear to his chest.
He'd asked for more snuggle time on more than one occasion so I figured I could too. "Don' wanna get up yet. Please?" I shifted my head to look up at him, and he smiled down at me.
"Yeah, okay. How long do you need to get ready?"
"Mmm," I groaned tiredly, "five."
"Five minutes?"
"Mm." I gave an affirmative groan in response as I shut my eyes again. He huffed in amusement.
"How about fifteen?"
I made another sound, though this time I wasn't really sure if it managed to sound more affirmative or negative. I held him tighter.
"Okay." He pet my hair, and pulled the covers back up around my shoulders from where they'd ended up around my waist. It was almost too warm but not quite, and I wouldn't change anything about it as I sighed heavily into him.
I woke almost an hour later to feather light touches up and down my spine over the covers and quiet words whispered in my ear.
"Izuku, time to get up now."
I'm pretty sure I whined, and I had the sense that my legs were wrapped around one of his so I used that and my arms to hold on tighter.
"I know." The strokes continued. "But it's our last day, and you don't want to be late."
I pried my eyes open, somewhat unwillingly, and slowly pushed up with a groan.
"There we go." His hands fell from me as I got up.
"Sorry," I murmured, "good morning."
"Good morning," he smiled back at me, "don't be sorry."
