A/N: feels like I threw in some Eraserhead fan service there... I swear it all has actual plot relevance haha.
Have fun reading!
Midoriya POV
True to Hizashi's word, Shota came back a few minutes later with a trolley full of boxes, and mail tucked under his arm. He carried them onto the living room, and his blonde husband slid them into my room and started opening them up while he went back down to return the trolley.
The very fancy memory foam mattress was the first to be opened, so it had time to fully unroll and... decompress?... over the next few hours. I couldn't remember the last time I had gotten a new mattress and I'm not sure I've ever watched one be unrolled before self-inflating.
There were still three other boxes, though, and I really wasn't sure what would be in all of them. They told me they were bringing up my bed, so what else had they bought?
It turns out the biggest of the remaining boxes had a bed frame, duh, idiot. They said they were getting you a bed. Did you think it would just be a mattress? The next had a shelving unit with a finish that matched that of the bed frame, and the last one was filled with clothes hangars, bedsheets, and a blanket. He made sure to make it clear to me the whole time that these were all temporary, and they were meant to stand in until we had time to go find stuff that I actually liked, and that we still needed to get me so many other things like a carpet, desk, chair, bedside table, decorations, extra storage... eventually I zoned out.
Next thing I know he's got most of it unboxed, and Shota is knocking on the doorway to announce his presence, a toolbox in one hand and a screwdriver in the other. He's taken his outter layer off so he's just in a tank top and sweats, and it looks like he's ready to spend the afternoon getting to business on a construction site. It's weird being able to see his arms for once, and the myriad of scars that adorned them. I brought a hand up to rub my own arm absentmindedly. The scars included a particularly nasty one that seemed to stem from his elbow, which I recognized from a very particular disintegration quirk. I had some of my own that looked quite similar.
"Can I come in?"
It's silent for a short while before I realize he's talking to me, not his husband, and I'm assenting with wide eyes.
"Alright, let's give him some space to work his magic." Hizashi claps, leading me out of the room- my room.
"Is two hours enough?" I hear him murmur quietly as they pass each other.
An equally quiet "yeah" is the response, followed by the unmistakable sound of a very quick kiss and a hand sliding down a bare arm.
I can't help the slight embarrassed flush on my cheeks as I awkwardly walk towards the living room, but I also have to chew my lip to suppress a smile.
This is so surreal. My teachers are married, and I'm living with them in their home. Also—the fanboy inside me begins to awaken for the first time in a while—they're pros. It's one thing being taught by literal living legends, but for them to adopt me? I mean, they're basically my parents on paper.
I catch myself, a bit of guilt bubbling up. I'm sorry mom, nobody will ever replace you. You were the best parent anyone could ask for, and the only one I ever needed.
That's right, let's not get too wrapped up in this, I tell myself. Don't forget why you're in this situation, what led to this. Don't forget that this is less than ideal for us all, and they're just doing me a big favor, one that will have me in their debt for the rest of my life. It might make them uncomfortable to be considered parents by me. I decidedly ignored the time Shota literally called himself my parent, because you don't know, it could have been a slip of the tongue.
