Have fun reading.Midoriya POV
Apparently, thinking about Kacchan summoned him. This was a trend I'd noticed in middle school as well, but I figured it was just a coincidence since he'd always shown up to pick on me. I suppose he's just always been a big part of my life. He strode into the classroom, and I know he usually gets back early but today we were only halfway through the lunch period.
He spared me a short glance (that's right, not a glare) as he stalked across the room, hands stuffed in his pockets, and I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. He looked... subdued.
He walked straight up to Shota, who looked very sad to have to again put a pause on his nap to converse with a student.
He spoke quietly to Shota, with his back to us and his shoulders hunched slightly. His hands were pulled out of his pockets and his fingers curled at his sides. Shota's eyebrows furrowed deeply at whatever Kacchan said, and I looked away, feeling like I was snooping.
He left the room soon after, and I tried not to dwell on it. That served to be a simple task, considering my attention was quickly torn away from the situation when Uraraka called my name.
She looked happy, more so even than usual, and I had noticed her give me a few excited looks throughout the last few classes. The number of looks increased drastically once lunch started, and she'd looked about ready to jump out of her seat when Hitoshi spoke to Shota earlier.
I was a little confused by the behavior, and trying not to make a big deal out of it because it was Uraraka, not some unhinged knife-lover nor was she someone who looked like Uraraka but thought I was a useless, hideous, pathetic piece of shit. I cringed back from my own thoughts. Don't think about that now, the words of somebody trying to get under your skin mean nothing. It was months ago, anyway.
"Can I get your help in the hallway really quickly? Alone?" She sent me a wink that immediately had my mind spiraling, thoughts running at a hundred miles per hour.
What did I do? Is that my friend? What does she want? Did something change? Am I crazy? What am I supposed to say? Is the league- oh. Oh yeah.
My face became quickly saturated in red. "Y-yeah. Let's go. I'll be right back?" I directed the last bit at Hitoshi, but suddenly found I couldn't even face him.
"Are you sure? I can come wi-"
"No!" I refrained from clapping a hand over my mouth. "No, it's fine. I'll be quick."
"Okay. Take your phone with you. Have my contact open, yeah?"
I pulled my phone out without even thinking about it, showing him his opened contact before putting it back in my pocket. Isn't he being a bit overprotective? The fact that it only served to give me butterflies was even worse. To be fair, I get in enough trouble at this point that he's probably constantly in a state of worry for my wellbeing.
I get up and walk to meet Uraraka by the door, with a 'be right back' thrown over my shoulder.
Uraraka is buzzing with barely contained excitement by the time the door closes behind us and we're alone in the hallway.
"Okay I need details from last night! Tell me everything." Her hands are clenched into fists at her sides as if she's trying not to reach out and shake me. For a brief moment I see Kacchan's own fists at his sides from just a few minutes ago.
Slowly, her toes lift off the ground and she floats upwards, only noticing when she gets high enough to just barely see over my head. She claps her hands together and quickly drops back down with a bounce, excitement written on her features as she leans a little closer.
