Midoriya's POV
We're training on campus again today. My dark-haired teacher said something about an obstacle course, which means I'm pretty certain I'll be putting my legs to good use today. The train ride there sucks, especially without Hitoshi, but at least people don't recognize Shota like they do with Hizashi, so we're not dealing with any excited crowds. We're also off the train before evening rush hour really starts, so it isn't too crowded. Small blessings, I suppose.
The anticipation of seeing my favorite person again is nearly enough to make me forget how last night's exhaustion followed me into this morning, and I honestly think there might be a bit of adrenaline flowing through me from the sheer need that has gripped my being in the past half hour. That probably won't be ideal for my future self, seeing as when that adrenaline crash comes I'll be running on fumes, but it's not a problem for present me.
The walls of the school have just come into view when the buzz of my phone alerts me to a notification. My heartbeat quickens when I see who it is.
Hitoshi: [image.jpg]
Hitoshi: I found our cat friends... or maybe it's more accurate to say they found me
In the image the ragdoll mix is sitting, staring up at the camera with those big, unblinking green eyes. The toes of Hitoshi's shoes are in view, and she's got one paw resting on top of his own toes. The little kitten, who's admittedly not quite as little anymore, is halfway through a big yawn, eyes closed. He's nestled up closely to the adoptive mama cat, part of his body obscured by her fluff. There's part of a concrete wall visible in the background, and it looks like one of the dorms.
You: which building is that? I'm omw
Hitoshi: Ours. We're at the back, on the side closer to the main building.
Hitoshi: I think she's holding me hostage
You: be there in 2 minutes
You: or less
I turn away from my phone to look at Shota with big eyes. "Can we go see the cats before we start? Hitoshi ran into them on campus."
I really need to get in the habit of asking permission before I agree to do things.
Shota thinks for a moment. Or, he pretends to. Because when he does respond he seems just a little too eager.
"We can spare a few minutes."
"Thank you!" I pick up my pace, a smile forming on my face.

Shota got to meet the cats, and confirmed that nobody on campus was taking care of them. At least, none of the staff were. Apparently he keeps tabs on this kind of thing.
It was awkward introducing them, given that we didn't have names for either of the little furballs. When I sat in the grass, the bigger of the two decided to settle against my side. Seeming to miss the warmth he'd had just moments earlier despite the summer heat, the smaller one made a beeline towards Hitoshi and sprawled his body across the teen's shoe, claiming his new napping place. A smile climbed up my cheeks as I watched, curling my fingers to scratch behind my own companion's ear.
Hitoshi bent down, cooing at the cat draped over his foot. He scooped the little thing up and he went bonelessly, without protest, settling into Hitoshi's arms easily. "So sleepy, aren't you?" He murmured.
The ragdoll seemed to look on at the two in front of us in amusement, curling her tail lazily around herself before a low purr started up in her chest.
