Word spread quickly through the halls of Hogwarts: Remus Lupin was probably the coolest Professor to ever step foot in Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Of course Remus heard the student chatter, though he tried his best to pretend he didn't. He had to admit though, every time a student came up to after a lesson to tell him how much they loved it, it made him fill with pride.

What didn't make him fill with pride however?

The fact every day the prophet was dropped at his seat in the great hall, with a new headline that said something about Sirius Black.

He tried his best to ignore it, but he couldn't.

So on a Saturday afternoon near the beginning of October, he found throwing a handful of floo in his fireplace and saying the words "The Potter Residents."

He coughed, landing on the uneven ground of the Potter fireplace. He never had gotten used to floo, it always filled his sinus's with dirt and grime for days.

He stepped out into the Potter Manor— the same house James had grown up in.  After Aveline died, they couldn't bare to stay in Godric Hollows. Instead, they moved to the empty Potter Manor.

"Hello," Remus called through the empty house, and his voice bounced off the walls.

It didn't take long for Lily to come scurrying from the kitchen, an apron tied around her waist and red hair tied up in a ponytail at the top of her head.

"Oh Remus!" She greeted cheerfully, and rushed forward to give the man a hug. He hugged her back with a tight squeeze.

"Hello Lils," he greeted back

Remus didn't come around often, but when he did Lily was always happy to have him.

"How are you? You look too thin. Are you hungry? I can cook you something to eat, maybe pasta or pizza or even a sandwich—"

"I'm more than alright Lily," Remus rejected politely, sending his old friend a soft smile. "Is James around?"

"I think he's upstairs. Make yourself at home Remus," she told him, squeezing his hand before retreating back to the kitchen.

Remus knew the halls of Potter Manor all too well. He had spent much time here as a kid, and he could swear the halls still lingered with the scent of Euphemia Potter's cooking.

The stairs creaked as he walked up, that was unfamiliar.

"James?" he called as he made his way up the stairs.

He poked his head into the room that was James's study.

As expected, there say a familiar head of black hair, staring down at something infront of him with a furrowed brow.

James didn't even hear Remus come in, even when the werewolf called out his name again.

It wasn't until Remus was standing directly behind James, did he realize what the man was so distracted by.

Sprawled out on James's entire oak desk, was a web of sorts.

Daily Prophet articles, muggle articles, pictures, scraps of paper, connected by various strings and pins.

James was scratching down something in a notebook eagerly, and it wasn't until Remus tapped him on the shoulder did his attention break.

"Oh!" James gasped, turning around and clutching his chest. "Oh Merlin Remus! You have me a fright!"

Next thing Remus knew, James was out of his seat, pulling Remus in for a brotherly hug and pat on the back.

"How are you mate?" James spoke, adjusting his glasses and heading to the whiskey cart in the corner of his study. "Care for a drink?"
