Lily Potter felt as if her heart had been running a marathon in her chest for the past hour. You'd think after living through a war and nearly dying, life would get calmer.
But here she was, 34 years old hugging onto her son after watching him nearly be burnt to crisps by a dragon the ministry practically sent after him.
Lily thought she knew fear when was she was young, though nothing compared to the fear that came with the idea of loosing her son.
"Mom!" Harry complained, scrunching his nose the way teenage boys do.
He was embarrassed — the way teenagers usually are when their parents are being parents.
Harry was lucky. He never grew up with the longing for a love like this. Love like this had surronded him his whole life. To the point where a hug from his mother and a ruffle of his hair from his father was as normal as taking a breath.
Aveline smiled softly, she had been tending to Harry's shoulder, preparing an ointment to put on a small burn.
How lucky he was to take this all for granted, she thought to herself, listening to James yammer on about Harry's sick moves.
Sometimes Aveline doubted herself, but seeing the three Potters together made it all worth it.
Harry deserved this love.
"Harry Potter you little sneak!" a voice boomed in excitement from behind Aveline.
It was a voice she very much recognized, but when she turned around expecting to see Sirius Black, she was met by a mop of blonde hair.
Though her eyes and brain quickly adjusted.
It was Sirius in a blonde wig with a ball cap on, and horrible looking costume beard.
Aveline physically couldn't help herself, she let out a loud snort earning herself a curious look from Lily.
"Sorry," Aveline coughed. "Just got something in my throat."
"Oh Elowen," James began, as if he suddenly remembered she was there. "This is our friend er Ben."
"Ben?" Aveline questioned, squinting her eyes at the man who was obviously Sirius.
How dumb were they?
Sirius Black and James Potter were two of the best wizards Aveline knew. They had access to potions and spells muggles could only dream of.
And they disguised Sirius— a man wanted by be ministry— with a horrible muggle wig, at an event multiple ministry official were attending ??
The absurdity of it all almost made her burst out laughing.
"Nice to meet you Ben," Aveline greeted politely, reaching out to shake his hand.
"And you, Elowen," Sirius told her.
How stupid was this, two old friends in disguise shaking eachother hands like strangers.
Aveline caught Remus's eye in the corner of the room. He was watching them carefully, a hand on his chin and head bowed, clearly in deep thought.
"I can imagine that every single girl in the school is going to be wanting you after that one mate," Sirius said to Harry, smacking him on the arm.
