The sound of two pairs of shoes slapping against the marble Hogwarts floors echoed as Aveline and Remus ran towards the great hall.

They weren't exactly late, but they were cutting it awfully close.

Remus was right— it turned out they could do an awful lot in 30 minutes, and hair and makeup could indeed be fixed within seconds when you had a magic wand.

Aveline was clutching onto Remus's arm with one hand, the other holding up the hem of her dress so she could run to the best of her ability in heels.

"We are going to be late!" Aveline hissed. "And everyone's going to know what we were doing."

They stopped infront of the great hall abruptly as Remus paused. Quickly, he pulled the woman in for a kiss.

"Let the world know I love my woman," he said softly. "It doesn't scare me."

He pulled away, opening the door for her.

The great hall had been transformed into a winter wonderland.

Aveline had a hard time comprehending that this was the great hall.

The tables replaced with elegant circular ones spread throughout the room, a dance floor and stage in the centre. Everything decked out in shades of white, snow covered trees lining the walls. clumps of snow fell from the roof, though wherever they landed they just seemed to disappear.

"Ah there they are," Dumbledore greeted happily seeing the duo arrive, "I was beginning to think the two of you got lost."

"Sorry Albus," Remus responded with a smile, "Elowen was having a wardrobe malfunction. Her dress wouldn't seem to zip."

If Aveline had been drinking water, she would've spat it out all over the floor. She was grateful the lights were dim, or certainly her face would be flushed bright red.

Dumbledore chuckled, "Ah yes. Wardrobe malfunction. Happens to the best of us does it not?"

Dumbledore took off on his long ramble reminding that that while they were encourage to have fun they were there to supervise the evening.

He told them everything to look for — students sneaking in drinks, students sneaking off to hook up in broom closets, students promoting unruly behavior, students fighting — none of which Aveline really cared to look for.

She remembered what she got up to in her Hogwarts days, the best she could do was wander around and pretend to be looking for mischief.

"You know," Remus began, as Dumbledore's speech ended and the crowd of teachers began to disperse, "Dumbledore didn't say anything about teachers sneaking off to hook up in broom closets."

Aveline smacked him in the arm, though playfully.

"Since when are you such bad influence Lupin?" she teased.

He shrugged, "I suppose you just bring it out in me."

The room soon began to fill with the buzz of students wandering in— awkward couples holding hands, whispers of gossip already over taking the place.

Remus and Aveline were truthfully no better than the students with gossip. The duo sat at their seats, watching the crowds of students begin to pour in with interest.

They would gasp to eachother and whisper over surprising student couples that walked through the door together.

"Is that Fred with Angelina?" Aveline gasped, whacking Lupin in the arm.
