Before Aveline could settle into the warmness and comfort of Potter mansion, she was standing on the front door step hugging her friends goodbye.

It wasn't goodbye forever nor was it goodbye for long. Certainly Aveline would see the Potter's and Sirius in a mere few weeks with the flurry of chaos that was the Triwzard tournament. Yet still as she stood with her bag packed she felt like she was leaving part of her heart behind.

Part of her longed for the days where they were all so close. The days she slept on the boys dorm floor, the days they were just a walk down the hallway away, the days where her evenings were spent cuddled on the gryffindor common room couch listening to Sirius and James bicker.

"Come here any weekend you are free," James told her, the man squeezing her in a tight hold. "I mean it Aveline. Our door is always open for you. You too Remus.

James spoke with heart— was the only way Aveline could describe it. His voice full of a sincerity that couldn't be faked, as he pulled away and looked her in the eye.

Tears were forming behind the man eyes, and he them fall freely down his cheek; without trying to hide them, without trying to pretend he wasn't emotional. James always had a way of being with his emotions that Aveline admired. He never pretended they weren't there. He never shamed away from his falling tears or trembling voice.

"Ugh," James sighed, shaking his head with a hint of a smile on his face. "I'm getting all worked up. I just love you guys and wish you could stay here forever and ever and we could all live happily ever after."

Aveline couldn't help but let out a laugh— a gentle laugh that was followed by a bittersweet smile.

"See you guys soon right?" she asked, looking from Potter to Potter. "For Harry's next task?"

At the mention of the tournament both Potter parents were white in the face, exchanging worried looks.

"We'll be there," James answered, though his tone wasn't excited nor happy. "Can't wait to see what near death experience they have in line for my son this time," he grumbled in a sarcastic tone.

"You guys will check in with him right?" Lily asked, green eyes full of hope and worry as her eyes flickered from Aveline to Remsu. "When you get back to school?"

It was clear that the tournament was weighing heavily on both Pottter parents. Whenever it was mentioned James would go on a grumble full rant of how stupid everyone at the ministry was, while Lily just looked like she wanted to throw up.

Aveline couldn't blame them. Even she felt sick to her stomach thinking about Harry in this merlin awful tournament.

"Of course, of course," Remus replied, his face serious and eyebrows furrowed. "You don't even have to ask. We will always be there for Harry."

"And let us know if you hear anything about what the second task might be," James chimed in. "If its anything involving dragons again I might actually murder Barty."

With a few more hugs from Potter's and Sirius, Remus and Aveline were off with a pop.

Her feet hit the ground, sinking into the marshy and soft earth beneath her. The instant smell of salt and oak trees filling her senses before her eyes could adjust to the world around her. Cold wind bringing red into her cheeks as Remus's hand reached for hers. His skin a warm contrast to the freezing air around her.

Turning her head, Aveline took in the site of a place that brought her nostalgia deep in her chestthe cottage of Lyall Lupin with its overgrown garden full of dead flowers, and its peeling blue paint.
