Of course, Remus didn't just walk Aveline back to her room. There is no way in merlin he was letting her out of his site anytime soon.
His hand was glued to hers. He was scared if he stopped touching her she'd disappear.
Though Aveline was relieved and happy beyond happy, to have Remus — her Remus — here with her, it was much different for her. She had knowingly spent the last two months with the man.
"I just can't believe it," Remus whispered, as the duo walked up the stairs from Aveline's classroom to her personal chambers.
Though he understood what all had happened, he was still having a hard time wrapping his around it all.
How was it she was really here?
"Me neither," she whispered back, tightening her grip on his hand.
Remus didn't even wait for the door to her bedroom to shut to give her the kiss he really had wanted to give her back in Dumbledore's office.
He quite literally swept her off her feet, the girl behind held up by his strong arms as he pressed her against the wall.
It was very clear Remus wasn't planning on coming up for air anytime soon, the man practically devouring her mouth as if he was trying to make up for 13 years of no kisses.
"It makes sense now," Remus muttered to her, looking up at her face. He was still holding her. "Because that sex with Elowen was way too good."
Aveline laughed, though her heart pinged with guilt.
"Remus I'm really sorry. It wasn't right of me to lie to you about who I was. And it wasn't right of me to sleep with you while lying to you," she told him, her eyes nearly filling with tears as she looked at the man.
Remus let out a laugh, setting her down gently. He pulled her towards the couch, sitting down and pulling her to sit on his lap.
"Aveline I don't blame you. It was a weird situation. Dumbledore got to you first, you didn't know what to do. I think anyone would've listened to Albus Dumbledore in that situation," Remus told her, gently placing a kiss on her neck.
She shook her head, "But I shouldn't have slept with you. That's manipulative and just not right of me. It was just hard. I thought it would be easy to keep my distance from you but I was couldn't resist—"
He cut her off with a loud laugh, throwing his head back.
"Love, please if there is any universe I complain about you being unable to resist sleeping with me, shoot me in the fucking foot," Remus said, his hands delicately touching the touch of her face, moving through the curls of her hair.
"But you didn't know it was me!" Aveline countered, lightly hitting him in the arm. "That's horrible of me. I took advantage of you!"
Remus snorted, this time hiding his laughter. He could see how much it was bothering the woman, and he found her worried eyes and pouty face quite adorable.
"If anything," Remus began, his tone light, "there wasn't any part of the sex we had where you took advantage of me. I was most definitely in control. I promise you Aveline, I don't care about any of that stuff. I'm just so happy and shocked you are here. Alive. I don't care about any of it. I care about you, and how you're doing, and if you're okay."
He was Bentley rubbing the back of her arm, his head tilted forward so he could study her face with his soft brown eyes.
"Hm," Remus hummed, brushing her hair behind her ear so he could get a better look at her face. "Answer me love— how are you doing?"
