Melissa waited for Spencer to return from the store. She needed Spencer out of the house so she could prepare to tell her the news. Melissa was terrified. Terrified of what Spencer would think. Spencer would be affected the most. Spencer would be terrified. She would want to hurt herself again.

Spencer returned to the apartment, five large grocery bags in her arms. Melissa helped put the items away, and she asked Spencer if they could talk on the couch.

Spencer automatically knew that something was wrong. Melissa never wants to "just talk." Something happened. A million things raced through her mind. Is Toby hurt? Is Melissa dropping out of school? Is she going back?

"What's going on, Melissa?"

"Spence, I have some news."

"What is it?"

"Mom and dad are coming back."

----

Toby stopped by the apartment right after school. He told his dad he had tutoring, because his father didn't like Spencer for some reason.

Spencer opened the door, her beautiful face stained with tears. "What happened? Are you okay?" Toby asked. Spencer shook her head. Toby brought her in for a long hug. She cried on his shoulder. "My parents are coming back." She said, her voice muffled by his shirt. She told him that she needed to be away from here. "Come on. I need a cup of coffee." She said. Toby stopped her as they were on their way to his car. "No. I'm not taking you to the brew." He stated, leaving Spencer confused.

----

They stopped at Lookout Point. It had the perfect view of the town. Spencer laid her head on Toby's shoulder. Toby wanted to tell her how he felt. There was just something that wasn't letting him.
The sun was setting. Toby watched as a slight smile creeped upon Spencer's face. This was the perfect moment. Instead of aiming for the lips like he usually did, Toby kissed the top of Spencer's head. They both knew. The feelings they had for one another were strong. They were just waiting for someone to make a move. Spencer's phone started ringing, snapping her out of her daydreams. It was Melissa. Spencer got up and made her way back to the car, leaving Toby sitting on the giant rock alone.

"Is everything okay?" Toby asked as Spencer made her way back to Toby. She shook her head. "My parents are there... They want to see me." She said. Spencer was frightened. She had to face her parents again. Her parents would do nothing but abuse her. But that wasn't what scared her. What scared her was that they might hurt Melissa again. Melissa was practically all she had now. If anything happened to her, Spencer would be destroyed. Heartbroken. Terrified.

Spencer started having a panic attack. Tears streamed down her face. Her hands were shaking. She was hyperventilating. Toby witnessed it all, and cradled her in his arms, letting her cry on his shoulder yet again. "Don't worry. I'll be there with you the whole time." He promised. Spencer can't do this alone. He would protect her if anything happened.

After all, he was nothing without her.
