Chapter 78

"I have to go." I say to Alison. I don't care if I sounded rude. Yvonne was here. She singlehandedly almost ruined my relationship with Toby.

I found Toby at our table, and he was playing with a very bubbly and giggly Valerie.

"We need to go." I say to him, taking Valerie into my arms.

"How come?" Toby asked, standing up.

"Yvonne's here."

I see the worry in Toby's eyes as he looks up, seeing Yvonne talking with her girlfriend.

"Just stay away from her," Toby said, "don't let her get to you."

I look at Valerie, and she begins to laugh in my arms even more. She grabs my hand, and I kiss the top of her head.

"Yvonne isn't going to hurt us," Toby said, "We don't have to worry about her anymore."

"You're right," I say, relaxing a little, "maybe I'm just overreacting."

As I sat at the table, feeding Valerie, it occurred to me:

Why isn't Yvonne back in Pennsylvania? That's where she was living when she first flirted with Toby. She wouldn't move eight hours away to Massachusetts just for a girl, would she?

Is Yvonne stalking us?
