Chapter 13

Spencer spent the afternoon alone, thinking about how her life was finally turning around. She used to hate her life. Now, everything's finally becoming alright. She remembered the feeling of Toby's lips on hers. It made her happy. Just the thought of Toby's existence made her happy.

Spencer decided that the apartment was a mess, so she allowed her OCD to take over and began cleaning. Dusting away like Snow White, Spencer made her way to Melissa's room, where she was appalled by the mess. Clothes were scattered on the floor, and the tiny bathroom had what seemed to be ripped paper towels on the floor. Spencer wondered how Melissa could be so messy. Melissa was more OCD than she was. She remembered a young Melissa tidying the kitchen every single day after every meal. Melissa swept, mopped, she even did the dishes. In fact, she would get angry if anyone left a mess. This made Spencer wonder why her sister's room looked like a tornado had passed by.

Spencer began to investigate. She looked under the bed, in the closet, even in drawers. Nothing. She started to look in the bathroom. She found nothing in the medicine cabinet, or underneath the sink.

A part of Spencer wanted to look in the wastebasket, but Spencer thought that would be too far. Who knows what Melissa threw away? Old food, used tampons, something disgusting! Spencer wanted to vomit just thinking about the trash, but then she started looking through it. She found nothing except crumpled up, unused tissues. She kept looking until she reached the bottom. She almost gave up, until she felt something like a box.

She grabbed it, and removed any tissues that stayed on it. Spencer gasped at what she found.

It was an open box for a pregnancy test.

She looked around some more, and found the actual test.

She gasped again when she saw the positive sign on it.

Melissa is pregnant.
