Chapter 69

"I've been thinking," I say to Toby before we go to bed, "since Aria and Ezra are moving as soon as the baby arrives and the adoption papers are finalized, why don't we move too?"

Toby looks at me like I'm insane. "All the way to California? Spence, you know I love you, but you're crazy."

"No, not to California. Somewhere else. I just don't want to stay in Rosewood forever." I admit, crawling into bed, snuggling up close to Toby.

Toby looks like he's thinking something over.

"Tobes? Is everything okay?" I ask, noticing that he looks ashamed.

"There is an architecture school in New Hampshire I've been looking at.." Toby says. I'm suddenly thrilled. Toby was finally giving up his job as a cop.

"New Hampshire it is!" I exclaim, hugging him.

"Are you sure? Spence, this is a big deal. Especially since we're going to have a baby and all..."

"Think of it as... A fresh start. A chance to start a new life. Both as a newly married couple and new parents." I say, kissing his cheek.

Toby flashed his signature smile, making me melt inside. I slowly climb on top of him, kissing down his neck. He kissed my nose, and I crawl off of him, returning to my original spot.

"I love you so much." He said, turning to face me, and gently twirling my hair around in his hands. We spent the rest of the night talking, laughing, and kissing, until we eventually fell asleep.

I sat on the couch, reading a book with a blanket draped across my body.

My phone started ringing. Ezra was calling me. It took me forever to process what he was saying. He sounded terrified.

A fire.

Aria fell.

I started panicking as I put my shoes on, making my way to my car. I called Toby and told him what happened. He said that he would meet me at the hospital.
