Spencer needed Toby for comfort. All this pregnancy drama was stressing her out.
"What's wrong, Spence? It seems like something's on your mind." Toby asked her as they sat on his couch, she sat in his lap, her head lying on his shoulder. Their fingers were intertwined.
Spencer remembered the promise she made to her sister. She promised to not tell anyone.
"I've just been thinking about the future," she said, trying to convince Toby of something else, "I've been looking at colleges."
"That's great! Where?"
"I don't exactly know yet. Maybe Connecticut? Or California."
"Wow. That's far away."
"Don't even worry about it. I doubt they're going to accept a high school drop out."
Toby felt Spencer's pain. She gave up so much. He felt guilty that he couldn't do anything to take away her pain.
"Don't say that, Spence. You're a genius. You could get into Harvard."
Spencer smiled. It was a genuine smile. "You're amazing, you know that?" She said, kissing his cheek.
----
A simple kiss on the cheek turned into a make out session. He slid his hands under her shirt and unhooked her bra. "I thought you said you wanted to wait." Spencer said in between kisses. "I do," Toby said, "but that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun." He continued to kiss her as she laughed to herself. Everything was going better than expected, until they heard the door unlock. They quickly got up and got dressed again, acting as if nothing had happened. It was Melissa, coming home from a doctor's appointment.
"Hey guys," Melissa said, unknowingly interrupting them, "was I interrupting anything?" She asked. Toby and Spencer exchanged glances. They wanted to say, "Yeah, you were." But they both just shook their heads. "I think you should go." Spencer whispered to Toby. He loved hearing her voice, especially in a whisper. It was so seductive, and it made him go crazy. "Alright. Call me if you need anything." He whispered back, kissing her lips one more time. "Goodbye, Spencer." He said. She seductively whispered back, "Goodbye, Toby."
----
"So how was your appointment?" Spencer asked Melissa at dinner. Melissa smiled. "It was good. In fact..." Melissa stopped herself and reached into her purse. She pulled out a small photograph. It was the baby. Spencer nearly choked on her food. Melissa showed the photo to Spencer, trying to hold in her excitement. There wasn't much, but it was enough to show that the baby was healthy. "Oh my gosh!" Spencer said, getting teary-eyed. This was the first ever picture of her niece or nephew.
"Everything's great. I have another appointment next Wednesday."
"Melissa, I'm so happy for you, but how are we going to live in this tiny apartment with a new baby?"
"About that..."
"What?"
"I'm so busy. And I don't want you to have to take care of it all by yourself. You're only 17! We could never settle down and take care of it together."
"What are you trying to say?"
"I found a couple that lives in New Hampshire. They can't have kids, so I thought that they could adopt the baby."
