A baby boy was born that afternoon. Spencer was the first to hold him. Seeing the newborn baby brought tears to her eyes. Just minutes ago, she had no idea what he looked like. Now, she couldn't take his eyes off of him. As Melissa was getting cleaned up, Spencer asked if she wanted to hold him.

"I can't." She said, low enough to where only Spencer could hear.

"Why not?" Spencer asked.

"It'll hurt too much." Melissa stated, her eyes filling up with tears.

Tom, the baby's new father, immediately started snapping pictures. Jannette, the new mother, was crying. "Have you thought of a name?" Spencer asked. Tom wrapped his arm around his petite wife.

"We've known the name ever since we found out it was a boy," Jannette said, her soft voice cracking slightly. She started crying happy tears again. "It's Henry." She said, then asking if she could hold him. Spencer handed her nephew over to his new mother, who was probably shorter than Aria, and smiled when she saw how happy Jannette looked. Henry started babbling and giggling as well.

"Are you sure you don't want to hold him?" Spencer mouthed to her sister. Melissa nodded, a disappointed look on her face.

-SPENCER'S POV-

Toby arrived a few hours later. "Spencer, is everything okay? Is Melissa alright? Are you alright?" Toby asked me. He looked worried. I stopped him from worrying- and talking- by kissing him. He put his arms around me and kissed my forehead.

"Babe, I'm fine, and so is Melissa." I say. He looks relieved.

"What about the baby?" He asks, suddenly worried again.

I smile and take his hand. "Come see for yourself." I say.

I take Toby to the nursery, where all the babies, including Henry, are resting. I find Henry almost immediately. I recognize him by his cute button nose, similar to Melissa's. I hold him carefully in my arms. "Wow." Toby said in amazement. I hand him over to Toby. He smiles when he holds my nephew.

"He kinda looks like you." He says. I don't see it at all, but I agree anyways. "How do you think Melissa is going to deal with a new baby?" Toby asks. Crap. I forgot to tell him. He doesn't know that Tom and Jannette are his new parents.

I tell him to put Henry back in his bed and I walk with him down the halls of the hospital.

"Melissa isn't keeping him," I explained, "she's putting him up for adoption. That family that was here earlier... They are his parents now."

Toby was upset a little, but he understood. "How are you dealing with all this?" He asked me, stopping in front of the nursery again. We had made a full circle around the hospital. It felt like seconds. "I'm kind of sad, but it's for the best." I said honestly. Toby pushed a few locks of my hair behind my ear. He kissed me for a quick second, then pulled back.

"If we had a real baby, what would it look like?" He asked.

I smiled at the thought of Toby and I having a baby. Of course, it wouldn't happen right away, but I still liked the idea.

"I'm picturing a newborn," I said, imagining a little version of me and Toby. "...with a six-pack!" I added. He laughed a little and kissed me again.

I kept imagining how upset Melissa must be. I understand why she's giving up Henry, and she must be so devastated with herself. I'm devastated, and he's not even my kid.

----

I started talking with Jannette, Henry's new mother. She told me that she plans to take great care of Henry. I hated to seem nosy, but I had to ask her what she did for a living. I needed to know that Henry was going to live in a nice house, with a nice family.

"I'm a high school biology teacher," Jannette explained, "and Tom teaches algebra. It's actually how we met." Jannette goes on and on telling the story of how her and her husband met. I keep thinking about Henry. He obviously will know that Jannette and Tom aren't his real parents. Jannette is half Indian, and Tom is white. Poor Henry will spend his whole life thinking is real mother didn't want him. He won't know the difficult decision his real mother had to make.
