I found Ezra at the hospital, and I was panicking more than ever. He told me to calm down.
"Spencer, everything is alright. Aria just hurt herself a little, but she's fine."
I feel a little bit of relief. "What about the baby? Is she okay?" I ask.
Ezra smiled. "Why don't you come see for yourself?" He said, taking my hand and leading me to Aria's room. When we arrived, Aria was sat on the hospital bed, with a brace on her wrist, holding a perfectly healthy baby girl.
I was in such a state of shock, I couldn't even speak.
There she is.
Toby comes running in within seconds, worried sick. He then stops worrying as soon as he sees her. We both carefully walk towards the hospital bed, as if we were trying not to make a single sound.
"Spencer, Toby, meet Valerie." Ezra says.
Valerie.
"Here. Hold her." Aria says, placing the delicate baby girl in my arms. Her familiar voice comforts me.
Nothing in my life has ever felt more perfect than this moment. I stare into Valerie's hazel eyes. Valerie. No word has ever sounded so beautiful. My eyes were fixed on her. This is my baby. My baby. How can one thing be so perfect and pure? She's so tiny. So delicate. So beautiful.
I was at a loss for words. Valerie looked at me with those beautiful eyes of hers, and grabbed a chunk of my hair pulling on it. Her tiny little grip is tight, but I still laugh. Frightened by my laugh, she lets go and begins to cry.
"It's okay, Valerie. It's okay, honey." I say, eventually calming her down. After she is calm and relaxed, I hand her over to Toby. His face lights up as he holds his new daughter.
"Hello there, beautiful." He says in a clear "baby" voice. The voice that people only use with babies.
"The adoption papers were finalized this morning." Aria says, "She's yours now."

The nurses took Valerie to the nursery, and when Toby and Ezra went to get some food, I decided to have a talk with Aria.
"Aria, what happened? Ezra told me that there was a fire. You and Valerie could've been killed!"
"I was making some tea... And all of a sudden I had a really huge pain in my stomach. I went to go get some medicine, and when I came back, the fire from the stove had spread. I couldn't see because of the smoke, and I was tripping over my own feet. I tried to break my fall with my arms, but I ended up just spraining my wrist." She says, then showing me her brace.
"I'm so glad you're okay. And Valerie's okay."
"Me too. So, I guess this is it."
"What do you mean?"
"Now that I had the baby, I guess Ezra and I have to move now."
"Oh, right." I say. That's all I can say. My best friend, my first friend, my child's mother, is leaving. She's not coming back. I wish that I cherished her more. I wish I would think about how great she was with every secret she told me, or every stupid argument we've had. But most of all, I regret not properly thanking her for going through what must've been hell to make me and Toby happy.
I suddenly feel like I've been taken back to college, when I bumped into her in the hallways, causing her to spill her coffee. We both had no idea what was in store for us.
I felt my eyes start to tear up. Aria grabbed my hands. "Hey, don't cry. I'll try to visit you guys as much as I can." She says.
"Things won't be the same without you." I say, feeling tears stream down my face. Aria begins to cry, too.
"We're always going to be team Sparia no matter what, right?" Aria asked, her voice breaking due to her tears.
"I promise, we will."
