I managed to get home before Toby, so he didn't know I was gone.

"Hello, beautiful." He said as he entered our apartment. He greeted me with a kiss on the cheek. Toby enrolled in the Harrisburg Police Academy. I was against it at first. I didn't want him to get hurt, and I definitely thought he would stick to being a carpenter, and maybe he would become an architect. I don't know what made him want to become a cop. His eyes lit up when he talked about designing buildings one day. I just felt like he was throwing his life away. I didn't want him to regret not chasing his dreams.

"Toby, I need to tell you something," I confessed, hoping he wouldn't be angry with me, "I visited Henry today."

Toby sighed as he set his large duffle bag on the couch. "Spencer..." He said, "that wasn't a good idea."

I tell him about Saturday. "I want you to come with me." I say. He tells me that going there in the first place was a bad idea.

"Tobes, Henry is a week old. He has no idea who I am. He won't remember this. I just want to spend a little time with him."

Toby doesn't say anything. He takes his stuff to the bedroom and changes out of his clothes.

I know he hates me right now. I don't blame him.

----

Toby and I drove quietly to New Hampshire on Saturday night. He hadn't spoken to me since that day.

"I think this will be good for us," I say, desperate to break the awkward silence, "this can show us what we'll be like as parents." Toby doesn't say anything.

Now I know how he felt when I was giving him the silent treatment.

"Can you please say something? Anything. Call me a bitch. I don't care. I just want to know you're listening." I beg.

"I would never call you a bitch," he finally said. I sighed in relief after hearing his voice, "But Spence, you need to learn how to respect this family. Henry's not you or Melissa's responsibility anymore."

"Put yourself in my shoes. If your sister had a baby, and gave it up for adoption, you would want to see it once in a while, right?"

"I don't have a sister."

"You know what I mean, Toby."

The argument continued on throughout the car ride. The long, long car ride.

----

Toby and I were exhausted when we arrived, having spent hours in the car, arguing, but that didn't stop me.

Jannette was dressed up, with her hair curled and her makeup done perfectly.

"So Henry won't be too much to worry about. However, I'd keep an eye out for Joshua and Nathan." Jannette mentioned to me.

I was confused all of a sudden.

"Wait, who are Joshua and Nathan?"

Tom laughed to himself. Jannette had a sly smirk on her face.

Tom spoke, "Joshua and Nathan are our other sons."
