The whole night was a blur. Spencer screamed.

"Don't touch my sister!"

People got hurt. The cops were called. The last thing Spencer remembered was comforting her sister, who had just been brutally beaten.

"Melissa are you okay? Please answer me!!"

"I've never seen mom and dad act like that."

"Melissa, everything's going to be okay."

Spencer cradled her older sister in her arms as they waited for the police to arrive.

Toby knocked on the front door of Spencer's house. He needed to see her. She wasn't at school that day, or the day before. He needed to know that she was okay.

Nobody was home. He tried calling Spencer, but she wouldn't pick up. This changed everything. Was she purposely ignoring him? Did she not have the same feelings for him as he did for her? He left Spencer a message.

"Hey Spence, it's me. You weren't at school and I just... I need to know if you're okay. Please call me."

He wouldn't hear from her for two more weeks.
