Keith's pov:
There was always something about a medical-like room that drove Keith insane, but he didn't know why.
Whether was the sucker punch to the nose smell of alcohol that made him think he was drunk or the buzzing lights that made it hard to hear his thoughts hence making him believe he was going insane. Or maybe it was the coldness the room offered rather than warmth like the waiting room or doctors office- a strong contradiction to the warm attitude of the nurses and doctors that told you to relax. The room told you to be scared as it sunk its icy claws into you to feel your pulse rise and skin drain.
Or maybe was the fact that right now he was in a room full of dead bodies and the one in front of him was missing eyes and all its internal organs.
This shit again! He thinks as he watches doctors analysis Galpin's body. Since the incident last year involving Dr. Anwar- another dead friend of Galpin who was closely connected to a dirty case the old sheriff was knees deep- died. Sheriff Santiago didn't want such tragedy and embarrassment to happen again so now there was security in the room.
"It's like someone shoved a spoon and a scraper into him! His veins and nerves are all missing!" Said one of the doctors.
The others agreed. Just like the homeless man's body you and Wednesday sunk into the very morgue he was in, Galpin was missing more than his life. The crows took everything they could within him. They even took his phone and documents around the house. Whatever they held was clearly important.
If it was so dangerous why would he keep that in his house? Thought Keith. Strunching his nose he pulled the thought away. No- maybe he wasn't such an idiot.
Slinking into the evidence room he found the box containing the paper. Pushing the box into the shadows and drawing Atredis' demonic he quickly scanned the report the Forensic. They had spent 3 hours looking at it.
Just as I thought! It doesn't match. He grabs a pen that was drenched in lemon juice and scribbles a note for you.
"It's ready," he whispers before leaving. Guess this is where the funeral times begin.
He sighs and turns the light off. In the darkness, six red eyes appear followed by a happy caw.
Wednesday's pov:
Of course the evidence is on a phone, thinks Wednesday as she boredly looks at Sheriff Santiago.
"What aren't you telling me Miss Addams?" The older woman asks.
"Volumes, no doubt," says her father who enters the room nonchalantly with his hands in his pockets. Behind him standing in the shadows was a Vampiric soldier- clearly a general due to the silver crescent moon medal he wore over his chest.
The deep crimson with detailed golden design of the ribbon indicated he wasn't your man but your father's. This caused her to groan internally. Another debt in your name Y/N.
"You could dangle her over a pit of snakes and she still wouldn't tell you her secrets. Trust me, I've tried." Her father offers the tired sheriff.
From the corner of her eye she sees the general's lips perk for a second.
"I'm allowed to question your daughter Mr. Addams. You can sit over there quietly." Her father quickly states he's a highly recognized lawyer- a very polite way of telling the sheriff to shut down the investigation.
"And most importantly, King Cassius asked me to deliver this to you- clearly stating what the Governor and Attorney General have told you- Wednesday Addams is not to be touched without the proper paperwork. Therefore, if you wish to speak with my client you'll need a judge's order."
The sheriff cursed and waved them away- starring at the envelope with a blood red ink seal. A seal that possibly remind the sheriff of Galpin's eyelesses sockets like it did to Wednesday. A seal that was actually made of blood.
A seal Vampires only used to remind others of their place during the medieval times. A time where humans were live stocks.
Cassius? Wednesday wondered as she got up and left the police station. Outside of the station stood more of your father's men. From the corner of her eyes she searched for any sign of you. A soldier of yours or even that damn crow! Hell she hadn't seen Keith at the station for the past 3 hours she was there! Last time you sent Evelynn to seek her- but then again she had clearly stated she was mad at you. And you knew better than to be around her when she was furious at you.
Her ability was missing and you had the ability to mess her mind enough to make it forget how to conjure a vision.
"I was fixing my nightcap when Thing and Atredis barged through the opening windows! Not less then a second did I see Vampiric soldiers ready to escort me here!" Laughs her father. His cigars smoke only added to the fuzziness of her mind.
"Cassius knows," he nods.
"He delivered that letter to me."
"And what did it say?"
He shrugs. "I know you are courting his daughter but it would be best to not get too deeply involved in their politics."
Her eyes darken with suspicion. "Why is that?"
"House Tepes is picky on how and who they reveal things to. If you find out what happens behind closed doors without being in their inner circle 3 things happen. You die, become a pet, or simply die."
"Cassius is threatening human governments isn't he?" The darkness thickens. What if you blocked her ability to avoid her from seeing what your father was plotting. Is it for protection or to avoid me getting in the way?
The words your mad Queen vision told her echo "stop getting in my way!"
Seeing her disappearing under the fog of her overworking mind's gears and machines, Gomez asks her why she was there. Quickly shooting a response his eyes turn from scolding her to worry.
"I can recognize a fellow card player is keeping their aces up their sleeves. But bluffing only gets you far." He gives her an even gentler gaze. "Did you have a vision?"
Seeing no way out she explained some things- just the Galpin situation. She avoided the pending war, Enid's potential death, your descent to madness, and her visions failing her. She didn't need her parents' pity. Especially from her mother while she hides her 'I told you face'.
"This is why your mother worries," her father whispers as he closes his eyes. Wishing it was all a bad dream. Probably hoping to wake up and see Wednesday as a little girl again. The same little girl who would listen a bit better and was gentler. Not the 17-years-old who was kicking up the Vampire court's grave dirt.
"You need to pack your bags and take her away-"
"I'm afraid she's made up her mind. We're staying."
Fuck, is all shs could think of as the car went down the dark winding road in the overgrown forest. A forest that waited to trap anyone who challenged it. A place that wouldn't budge to another's will so easily like her and her mother.
A forest full of secrets. Then I'll challenge it.
"What happened to Aunt Ophelia?" Her father's cough made her chest explode with pride. She had found the right tool to remove at least a tree.
"That my little poison pen is not my story to tell."
Your father's words swirl around her like her father's cigar smoke- "trying to find away to know more about your family? Unbury secrets! Typical of an Addams and Frump!"
Although her eyes narrowed and her gaze darkened with determination and defiance, the back of her mind felt a chill. "Fine, I'll find people who will tell me."
Her father's poker face cracks but doesn't shatter. She had him in checkmate.
