Y/N'S pov:
"Weren't the Boy Scouts disbanded due to men like that being creepy with kids?" asks Ramona as she stares at the man dressed in tight shorts.
"Yes, but these are the 99-cent store version of them," Y/F/N jabs as they stifle a laugh at the group's cheap uniform. "How are those shorts so tight yet balloon pants loose at the same time?"
The group begins to laugh but immediately stopped with the glance you sent their way. This wasn't the time to roast nor take things so lightly. Once again, an ignorant normie speciest vs an Outcast speciest.
You couldn't help but stare at Dort and the old man "Sargent" as they argued over whose contract was the most valid. What is this a dick competition??
A warm sensation nuzzles your shoulder as a cool breath wisps around your ear. "You could easily fix this, darling."
You glance at Evelynn, who gives you a smirk. "I'm letting Dort embarrass himself for a bit before I interfere. Wonder how the Sargent will react to an actual soldier."
She laughs and lifts her eyebrows, causing your stomach to shatter on the dirt below. She wasn't talking about your political or social power, nor the shadows. It was the other power.
She wraps her arm around you and nods. Securing herself as your lifeboat if you took the leap of faith.
You nod a no, but she nods a yes as she tilts her head towards the man who wasn't listening to Dort and throwing passively aggressive insults to Nevermore's students.
"An ignorant fool won't listen to reason. You know that better than anyone, for we saw it not long ago with Galpin." You sent her a glance before looking back at the men. As they went on, it was becoming more obvious that Dort's contract was the winner for it was the original owner who signed it while the Sargent's wasn't, thanks to the new owner signing it a week later and not checking the calendar.
Yet no matter what Dort said, the normie man ignored it and threw some bullshit reasoning.
Fuck, you think as you close your eyes. She was right. What the Sargent and Galpin clearly had in common was ignore facts and reason to maintain their fragile ego and avoid admitting their mistakes. Galpin's was Tyler, and handling the case while the Sargent's was not consulting the original owner before he retired. Talking was going nowhere and the only option was a fight, which you would rather avoid.
Staring back at the heated fight, you nod and begin thinking about memories that made your blood boil. From what you noted about your ability, you were able to conjure said ability due to tense emotions. The problem was 99% of them were linked to Wednesday, and this wasn't.
"Think of times you felt powerless and voiceless, Y/N. Let the anger take control," whispers Evelynn in Latin. As her words drift into your wind as the scene before you folds- you see moments normies and humans had treated you bad. Times they had talked you down. Times they had dared to question your right to exist as a living being. Those scenes merged with the argument before you, making the scene almost appear purple and red.
Taking a step forward you feel your wings squirm with anticipation and excitement. From the corner of your eye you see golden eyes beam with pride and happiness as their owner's arms now cocoon around your arm like a spider trapping their prey.
The cool fresh air turned into heavy sticky tar in your lungs that burned your throat and smoked your mind. You knew someone was trying to get your attention. Heck it could be many but the rage and frustration was getting too much.
"Shut up," you whisper under your breath. The old normie man does as he was told. Making Dort smile and boast that he had won the argument.
"Very good. Keep going darling," cheers the princess. "Don't hold back now. You know how we both like it."
