Y/N's pov
The shadows wisped around you as the light of the warm light of the abandoned church reached out to pull you up from the ocean of darkness.
With a sigh you collapse into the old yet sturdy priest's chair. Just as your back meets the dusty cushion, blood splutters out of your mouth and nose.
"Fuck!" Scrambling to wipe off the blood with your handkerchief you hear your cousin/best friend's and Evelynn's voice telling you not to use your powers. They were right to be concerned because walking felt like stepping on knives, breathing was getting harder as if there was lead in your lungs while there was a cannon ball dragging your lungs down. Your muscles fared no better, getting stiffer and stiffer by simply breathing. Moving only made it worse. Your throat was on fire- craving for living blood- not from a blood bag or glass vial.
With how heightened your senses were, you could taste the plastic scraping your tongue and throat when you drank from the bag. While the blood from the glass vials were too cold. You wanted the heat of the living to warm up how cold you were feeling the longer you pushed your body.
The only part of your body that didn't ache was your wings. But they were getting a bit active due to how long they were contained. You hadn't used them since your fight with Crackstone. They wanted to feel the air and hopefully tear something apart.
Taking slow deep breaths you pull your mind out of the pain and focus on the scenery of the church. I really have something for abandoned places.
The small church had been abandoned for a decade prior to Nevermore being built. As time went by the woods swallowed it and the branches held onto the building to keep it up. Whoever built it wanted it to stay standing for centuries as seen through the detail that was found throughout it.
The dusty blue marble held the tall cream colored walls that held the colorful stained glass. Shockingly, none of the stained windows was broken or missing- almost as if the trees were careful on where they placed their branches to avoid shattering the windows. Oddly enough, the roof wasn't cracked either, leaving the starry ceiling that showed the shade of blue the marble was. The golden and metallic white paint made the stars still twinkle under the golden hour light. making dust that swirled in the air appear like star dust, forming a new star to join the ones above. Dust that was golden, red, or blue thanks to the stained glass.
Other than the dust, the peeling of the wallpaper and the chipping of the floor are what proved that the church was abandoned.
"Guess we'll have an audience," you say as you realize the white sheets you draped on random pews were still there.
The last time you were there was when you were going to Sweden for the UN Summit to discuss your proposal. Two weeks later you met Wednesday and had forgotten about your sanctuary.
The sound of flapping wings causes you to stand up against your body's protests and shove the bloody cloth into your pocket. Making your fingers bump into the phone Atredis gave you. Fuck me- I still need to check that!
"Tepes." Liked it better when she called me Y/L/N.
Looking up you feel your breath freeze as your heart and mind race against each other. Seeing which one can cause you to lose control first. Your heart that wanted to hold her close due to almost losing her or your brain that argued that ties needed to be severed for good for the greater good of the Vampire court.
Before you could greet her, her pale hand came into sight. Yup- I deserve a bitch slap!
Closing your eyes and standing tall you accept your faith only to feel her fingers lingering an inch from your face. Opening your eyes you see her shove her hand into her coats' pocket.
