Y/N's pov:
Rereading the cursive letter on the vintage paper that smelled like dead roses, you feel the ghost of Wednesday's lips and body on you. Making you want to run to her side just to sense blood moving through her veins, feel her breath rise and fall over and over again as her mind smokes out whatever puzzle it had hidden within it.
Shaking your head you return to the papers and whiteboards spread out across the floor. It was the first time since returning to Nevermore from the camping trip you took a break from the investigation.
Since last night you had taken detailed notes on the missing people cases. Connecting similarities in how and where they disappeared along with their backgrounds. From what you found many shared the same blood type which was type O+. Nothing too groundbreaking since it was a common blood type. But what was weird was the fact a selected few weren't. Those were seen in the beginning of the reports- the earlier cases.
Almost as if the kidnapper was testing their blood types on or for something. Looking at the list of names that stood nervously next to their blood type on your list, you run down how the first 10 victims had pairs in blood types. 2 of each, minus the O+, which had so many.
"The closest place to conduct any experiments or activities involving blood is Willows Hill." Glancing at the knife stabbing a map of Jericho, a mob of red pins surrounds it. All pins were in the range of the mental hospital.
"What are the chances this is connected to Arasaka?" You whisper, clinging on to your hair so tightly that the strands might as well disintegrate. No, Wednesday, I'm not fine.
Getting up and tossing the notes on the ground, you pick up the letter once more and place it on your desk. Grabbing some paper, you begin writing a response.
Dear Wednesday,
Why are we writing like this? You could've asked Agnes yourself to tell me this. Also, how will Gloria contact you? You will need her help for your end. Do I need to buy you a phone? I can get you a flip phone if you want which is retro and no brain riot risks.
Or are you hellbent on keeping me enslaved within your fingers by continuing this intimacy with me? Or do I disgust you for what I did last night?
What happened last night is what the world sees and only ever will in my kind. I don't remember anything after I began chasing your brother's Zombie boyfriend. It all went blank as if I was on autopilot. Almost as if my consciousness never existed. This was the first time I actually lost control of my Vampiric instincts.
But I'm not justifying my actions. In my anger I choked your brother and threatened to kill him. I know apologizing won't fix what had happened, but I'm sorry.
Concluding the letter you turn and give the letter to Agnes who was waiting patiently for your response.
Returning your attention to the case you flip through old evidence to find connections which then led to you looking into victims' backgrounds and making a list of family members to look into. You also locked yourself in a text message exchange with Keith and Elvin who were looking through the old case files at the police station.
"Delivery~" sings Agnes, reappearing with a new letter that was full of insults and death threats that made you smile.
"Fine, you win," you whisper as you write about how you were frustrated about the fact Arasaka could be involved. You went over the situation briefly but kept the fact the Earl could be a traitor out of direct sunlight. You knew Wednesday would piece the pieces together on her own.
It didn't take long for Agnes to deliver the new letter for another to be sent.
"Arasaka has been trying to recruit my father for some time now for their defense team. I could ask him to enter it.
I would much rather you be suffering by my hand than the hands of others.
Till death
Wednesday"
That would be ideal... You think, drumming your fingers on your lap. But would he be able to protect himself?
"Tell Wednesday that I'd be willing to discuss this," you shake the letter, "in person tonight."
Agnes left with a bow. Giving you privacy once more.
Lifting the envelope once more, the scent of blood tickles your nose. "Of all the things you could've used to write, it had to be your blood. What a waste."
You lick her name, taking in her taste and the smell of her dead rose perfume. You mind slips into what had happened in the tent. The way she commanded you. The way her arms mapped your body while her tongue guided you back to her. The way your mind only thought of her and only her- she was the only thing in that moment that existed. The only thing that mattered.
"Bold of you to assume I would let death take you, Addams." your pupils widen, creating a solar eclipse in your shining red eyes.
Louches hand appeared before you on the floor with a capsule. It was Enid's blood test. Yanking it out of the demon's grip and opening it up, you scan the content. The pit of your stomach dropped and tore itself apart as you went down each word and sentence.
"SON OF A BITCH!" You slam your hands on the floor. Crunching the paper in the process.
Enid was an alpha.
And she was going to die simply for existing.
