Chapter 67: Stalking prey

Wednesday's pov:

Slamming the door on Ajax's face, it dawns upon her that this school year may be full of the stereotypical drama rather than murder mysteries like the last one was.

Hope your father or someone does something that gives me a clue or at least a suspicion of who Thornhill's master was to get me out of this mess. She thinks as she closes her eyes and throws the pinky unicorn plushie at Enid, who was rambling off her ear with thanks and terribly concealed pleas for her to ask about the Ajax situation.

"In 25 words or less," states Wednesday as she unpacks her belongings. As Enid pops off like a bomb about how she has changed since wolfing out, which has caused her to question many things- Wednesday pulls out the folders containing her notes and theories of your father's role in the Crackstone situation, along with unanswered questions. One of them was the stalker who texted her at the end of the first semester and went quiet for the whole year. No matter how many times she tried to contact them they never answered. Even when Y/B/F/N tried to wire the phone, they just found it was a number that was disconnected 5 years ago. Leaving both with more questions. Due to the lack of evidence and the fact she threw the phone into a pot of boiling water thanks to Xavier spamming her she decided not to get you involved. The stalker was just a troll trying to get under her skin- a coward.

Hiding the evidence under one of the floorboards, Enid ends her ramble with the very question that has haunted Wednesday since the argument you both had involving Tyler. "So, what about you and Y/N?"

Wednesday freezes. Her mind had still come to a conclusion on what was happening between the two of you now. Your last real interaction was a terrible one that ended with her weaponizing your low self-esteem involving who you thought were your parents to protect the very boy you were right about being the murder. Then, when you had come back to resolve said issue you caught her kissing him.

Yes, you both kissed after Crackstone's attack but you looked like you wanted to tell her something. But you ended up talking to a gun, which put you in a coma for half a year. That same night, you were wearing an engagement ring- something you didn't have before the argument.

Her mind came to many roads what could happen between the two of you. The letter you had dropped for her could hold the answers but she hadn't opened it yet. It sat on her bed, waiting for her to cut it open.

"Is there something I can help you with? I can talk to her and explain why you did that-"

"It's my own battle, Enid. Plus, you have your own. You should talk to Ajax." She says as she resumes her unpacking.

"If I do that, it'll be like an arrow through his- AH!" An arrow shoots out of Wednesday's closet. Atredis swoops into the room in time to yank Enid out of the way. A large military arrow stabs itself into the wall with three photos attached to it. Someone had snuck a trigger-happy crossbow in Wednesday's closet- aiming to kill. Studying the crossbow, Wednesday realized it was one of the schools. Meaning whoever wants her dead is within the academy's walls again.  

"Welcome back, Wednesday, I'm still watching," reads Enid off the photo of Wednesday speaking to Principal Dort. Her eyes are Xed out by a white marker. The next photo had a heart drawn over you and her with an arrow going through your head. The bottom reading-

"Romeo and Juliet- the doomed lovers of the stars'.... you now have a stalker Wednesday?" asks Enid nervously. Wednesday ignores her and grabs the final image. This one made her want to grab the revolver you gifted her and kill someone.

It was Evelynn holding your arm tightly as your father smiled down at the two of you. You looked tired in the image, while the demon princess acted like she owned the whole place. Below the image was terrifyingly to close to the illusion she had of your future. 'Future rulers of Earth and Hell!!!'
